Seems alright; you could play it on the PS3 for the gorgeous visuals (especially if your computer is kinda meh), and then (presumably) pick up where you left off on PC to Noclip over a particularly hard section.

Hmm I may just get it for PS3 then. Though it depends on how much it costs. Portal 1 came along with loads of other great games for your £40, but if the PC version is a bit cheaper than the PS3 one (by about £10 say) then I'd probably just get the PC version. I look forward to cross platform play though.

Valve, you have somehow gone Beyond the Impossible and have earned even more respect from me.

Now if only I had a good PC to play it...

Ehh, at least I can just link it first and install it later when the time comes.

EDIT: Calumon, you are still adorable.

I would like to know the exact way this is going to be handled. Obviously there is going to be a system in place that prevents linking up multiple playstation accounts for the steam copy. So I'm wondering if I can get my steam copy, give the retail copy to someone else and then play online with that person. Otherwise I don't see a strong reason to buy a more expensive inferior version of the game.

Awesome, now all Valve has to do is put up updates for the PS3 version of Team Fortress 2 and I'll be happy.

Valve: Introducing new, exciting business models while the competition are still stuck in the stone age, trying to figure out what this "Internet" is and what it means for their bottom lines.

Bravo, Valve. Bravo.

Now Sony, on the other hand, hasn't seemed too interested in including a free PS3 copy of Portal 2 with every PC copy - probably due to licensing fees - but it's an important step forwards towards an equilibrium where when games come out, they come out on all consoles, not just one or two and if you want it on every platform you own you have to buy more copies even though you supposedly purchase a license to use the software and not the software itself and graah.

Sorry, got carried away there.

When you go and insult people, they get offended. Gabe Newell has spoken harshly against the PS3 many times, but then at E3, he decided that enough was enough, and announced that not only Portal 2 would come to PS3, but Steam would as well. Well apparently, linking your PSN and Steam account after buying Portal 2 will give you Portal 2 on PS3 and PC. Two edition.

This makes sense when you think about it. Steam on both things, should be able to use the same things on both consoles. Of course, Steam probably won't take off as well on PS3 as it has the PC, but still, I am happy to get Cross Platform play, Cross chat, and two copies to the sequel of one of the funniest games of all time.

I wonder if you will get a third mac version for your trouble since Valve let you have their games so far free on Mac's if you have it on PC.

Once you own a game on Steam, its yours forever. If youre a PC regular simply login to Steam on your Mac and you should be able to download games with Mac compatibility. Also works vice versa.

Great news for us ps3 users. Had been tore between playing portal 2 in all it's glory on my ps3 or the way it was intented on my pc with lower settings. Now I can have the best of both worlds. Although it's not technically free as the ps3 version is £10 more expensive than the pc version, but still a great deal for those of us with ps3s and steam accounts.

I know, I just wondering if that will work if you bought the PS3 version.

It should, but needless to say you need to meet Valves half-assed requirement to actually get the game on the PC/Mac. If youre wondering, head to your PSN profile page on the PSN website, copy the url, head to your edit profile page on Steam, paste it in one of the link slots.
