Hey y'all

so here is the bad news for all of those out there playing Skyrim on PS3. In their latest update on what is happening with the now well-overdue content, Bethesda has confirmed that they are still having problems adapting the content for PS3. In their post they state that they are unsure whether the content will be fixed at all for the PS3 system though they are working with Sony to figure out a fix for the issue.

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1407614-update-on-ps3-dlc/

So what does this mean for future content? Will PS3 users ever see Hearthfire as well? And should a company announce DLC intended for all platforms before it is even working?

Lets hear your thoughts but please, no "Should have bought on Xbox or PC", thats old hat.

I do believe that there's already a topic on this, good chum! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.386824-Update-on-the-state-of-Dawnguard-on-PS3]

What I said in that thread said:
What with the "massive game" statement and the reassurance that the PS3 is a powerful system, I'm thinking that people are right about the PS3's RAM limitation being the issue here.

As meh as the DLC looks, I'm still pissed about this blatant favouritism of Microsoft.
Do Bethesda want more money, or don't they accept currency they get via that inferior piece of tech they so loathe to develop for?

Damn. I'm glad I bought it on PC then. The PS3 got shafted with Oblivion DLC too as you had to buy the game of the year edition to get the shivering isles whereas it was available as separate DLC on 360 and PC. I loved Oblivion, but I was not going to buy the game over again to get the expansion.

lol lol lol dis why xbox da best!

sorry, i need boundary's.

in all honesty, whats the deal Beth? its like they have never before encountered a PS3. they act like it is some kind of unknown alien artifact. first that brutal save file slowdown thing, that only took them 4 months to fix, and now this.

but shit, does anyone even care? i traded in my copy 2 weeks after release....burnt out on the open world, as i recall.

It's not so much about money, it's about not being able to actually fit the game's content on the system due to how the Skyrim engine works. The PS3 only gives the CPU a measly 256MB of RAM to work with, even when it came out that was a small amount, and 6 years later it's positively microscopic. Should Bethesda have warned PS3 gamers that they were getting something ill-suited to their system? Probably, but then it's not like any publisher ever tells PC gamers when they're getting a piece of shit port.

Is it totally impossible to optimize it for PS3? I think not, when other games run so well on it. It's not like the engine is so amazing anyway, so tweaking it a smidgen more to work on all platforms couldn't have been too much of an inconvenience.
Besides, they're not putting much effort into bringing Dawnguard over. The damned thing came out around a month ago, yet they're still having problems? This all smacks of delaying the inevitable news that Dawnguard on PS3 is not going to happen, and that is just unacceptable.

Actually, FromSoftware did :D

Anyway, suck to be a PS3 owner. It seems they get the short end of the stick much more often than X360 of PC.

And concerning Skyrim, it sucks to be in Czech Republic even on PC, since due to some licensing bullshit, I can't get it on Steam and it's still full price in retail. No Steam sale on Skyrim for me...

I guess Bethesda will not longer be getting any money from me on any of their products.

They should have 'worked with Sony' months ago, so it would be released in a timely manner.

Instead they decided to spend the time cashing Microsoft's exclusivity checks and spending that money.

Why is it every article about Bethesda delaying DLC neglects to include that fact? Fair reporting should remind people that Bethesda originally did that, every single time. I'm highly critical of Bethesda on this, because they clearly don't want their customers' money as much as Microsofts.

Oh come on Bethesda, I know that you favor the Xbox, but, really? Urgh... well I can't say I didn't half-call this from the start as they always have been a bit like this. On the other hand, making games for the 360 and porting them to the PC and adding mod support seems to be working out quite well for them.

I don't get that RAM limitation thing. There are plenty of games as big as Skyrim out there that work just fine. There are certainly plenty of addons as big as Dawnguard that work just fine.

Sucks to have it on PS3...

Then again, it sucks to have any Bethesda game on anything but a PC.
