PS3 System Update

So, just for the heck of it, I tried to sign in to PSN just now. Much to my surprise, I received a system update. Its downloading as I type this. What does this mean? Could PSN be coming back to life, or can system updates still be received while PSN is down? Or am I suffering PSN withdraw and only think I'm getting a update?!?!?

Any info anyone knows would be much apprenticed.

EDIT: Finished downloading and installing, still says PSN is undergoing maintenance, although
more threads are popping up saying its coming back up soon, so we'll see.

It's happened to me a few times too, don't forget how millions of people are trying to download it at the same time. So don't worry too much.

Mine finished downloading and installed with no problem, but it didn't ask me to change my password or anything. From what I read on the Playstation Blog, it seems like the update is just preparing us for when PSN is restored.

Just so everyone knows, I had no issues downloading it. Took about 10 minutes and it was downloaded and installed. Hope that helps clear some things up.

installing as i type was gonna play black ops single player but the last hour has been taken up with downloading the update

*Edit* just installed and still no psn looks like an update in preparation for restoration.
