That's pretty dumb... Why not just do a free extension like the XBOX? What you'd pay for to get an extension on your PS3 warranty, you could use to pay a year of XBL..

Hmm.. How odd.
Its difficult to get that extension if you don't own it.
I could just be dumb, but what?

I love my PS3, but I don't understand why they wouldn't let it come with a long warranty like the 360. Perhaps I should have reworded my statement.

My ps3 died 6 times! In one year! After that year, Sony just said: "Sorry, your warranty is expired. You could be 150 euros and have us fix it." They were supposed to do that the last 6 times! Bloody hell, if something pisses me off it's bull like that. Eventually I bought a used ps3 at my local retailer for about 120 euros. You know what? It broke, 1 month after I bought it. That was today. I'm going to buy an AK-47 one day and pay SCEE a visit...
no offense but you either take care of that thing like shit or you have a super hot room...

1 or 2 times is accidental..but when your having it break that many times, its not their fault i would say

And a custom gaming PC has no warranty. Though you can crack it open and fix it, which is fun. I love getting my hands dirty. Speaking of which, I should open the old girl up and clean out the dust.
I beg to differ.

Opening up your case only to find your GPU has melted into the motherboard is enough to bring a man to tears

Xbox does it for free for one year or 3 years (only if its rrod or E74). The 360's failure rate is at 46% with the PS3 at 4%. MS does that for free because they fucking have to or people would burn it down to the ground

Nailed it. I'm sure they would be facing some pretty severe legal problems with nearly half of their boxes bricking it, if they weren't replacing them for no charge.

I don't feel I need an extended warrantee. I still have my original PS3...on my third 360.

I think Microsoft have finally nailed the whole "bricking" issue though.

Same here with the PS3, launch model backwards compatible still going strong, in fact the power cable is from a kettle because my nephew ripped my original one. (yep, a kettle cable is what the PS3 needs to run, 5 amp fuse people!)

My Xbox power brick "bricked", which isn't covered in the waranty so I didn't buy a new one.

PS3 controllers on the other hand though, sixaxis died and a dualshock ran out of juice, i must use them hard because my PS2 and Gamecube controllers also had issues.

I've not had problems with my ps3 controllers. I did wreck a fair few ps2 controllers, though. Hours of thumb grease and friction takes the grip off of the analogue sticks, and the parts grind together when you use the analogue sticks...I've noticed the fine plastic powder on the controller after I've been play God of war. I'm quickly turning the thing to dust.

I'm kind of thinking of selling my PS3, I need the money and doesn't look like anything is coming out for it anytime soon.

That's not really a mind at ease issue. My PS3 i bought about four months after launch and shes still going strong. The only times i have ever had any sort of issue with it is with Fallout 3. Then again i expect that from a game with the word fallout in the title(People who played fallout 2 should get that). That and my first dualshock controller was broken out of the box. Its down button was broken and kept acting as if i held it down, but i got that replaced for free even though technically the EB I went to didn't have to.

I always take care of my consoles as best as I can. I never drop them, turn them off inproperly nor do I ever let them gather dust in their vents. I have no idea why the ps3 dies on me so much. I don't think it's because the room I put it in is too hot. It's mostly at a constant 15 degrees. I just freakin' hate Sony's tech support. They're so disrespectful and simply try to keep complaint calls out.

Yeah I've heard of a lot of that actually.... it's funny... as bad as the 360 was on launch, they nailed the controllers dead on. I hate the PS3 controllers, which is odd because I liked the PS2 ones. I guess Sony never heard of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Huh? My original controllers work perfectly. My new Dualshock one i got the next day also works perfectly and has never once crapped out. They did the controllers fine.

The controllers are also identical in appearance with the exception of the PS button.

Lucky. I'm ...on my 4th.
Makes me wonder just what in the world you two are doing to them?

I am on my first bought a tiny bit over six months after they launched.

OT... Sorta: People you turned a question about the PS3 into one of the silliest fanboy flame wars I have yet to see. There wasn't even mention about the 360, yet you mention one it seems and poof instant flame war.

So Sony are asking you to pay to gamble that your PS3 will break...
That's exactly what extended warrenties are.
