Since I just got a new job I can now afford to get a PS4, just in time for Bloodborne which is one of the few exclusives that I actually care about this generation. Other than Bloodborne I have a couple of other games I want to get on the PS4, namely Batman Arkham Knight and Uncharted 4, but other than those games is there anything else out or coming out on the PS4 that I should be keeping an eye out for?

I also have a PC and do a lot of PC gaming so most games that are multiplatform are probably going to be played on that over the PS4.

Edit: Just thought of another game to get, Shadows of Mordor.

If you enjoy the Warriors series, you've got Samurai Warriors 4 and Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate those are pretty fun games. I'd recommend the Dynasty Warriors series as well, but the newer ones have all gotten PC ports.

Infamous: Second Son should have dropped quite a bit in price by now. It isn't worth sixty dollars, but well worth twenty or thirty.

Sadly, that's all I got. Exclusives are rare enough on consoles so far this generation, exclusives to one even less so.

Doesn't necessarily have to be exclusive (Batman Arkham Knight certainly isn't), it's just that I'm more likely to play most multiplatform games on PC. It depends on the game though. For some reason certain games just click better for me on console than on PC.

Also, I don't like Dynasty Warriors.

inFamous Second Son might be interesting, but I never finished inFamous 1 or played inFamous 2. How much connection is there with those games and are they required to play through to in order to understand Second Son? I could pick up inFamous 2 (which I hear was really good) and finish it before Bloodborne gets released.

You do not need to play them, though several more important characters are effected by the events of previous games. The game does a pretty good job of summing it up. I would still suggest playing Infamous 2 as it is fantastic, easily the highest point of the series and will help provide a little better context for Second Son. Just remember, the good ending for the first two games are canon. Evil is just for shits and giggles I guess.

Hmm. Since you can pick it up now for sale cheap (or at least I did, anyways), you could check out Killzone: Shadowfall. I'd also recommend, if you haven't played them yet, Alien: Isolation, DragonBall Xenoverse, and Bastion once it has come out on PSN.

I already own and played through Bastion on PC and I have absolutely no interest in Dragonball Xenoverse because I hate Dragonball Z (also the PS4 online servers are totally fucked so online play is basically impossible for a lot of people at this time).

Alien Isolation seems like another good recommendation though. I've been meaning to check it out when the price drops a bit. Have you played through it? What do you think of the criticism that it's too long for its own good?

I'd definitely rank it among the better survival-horror games to have come out lately. As far as the too long, I can see why others might think it too long, but I had no issue when it came to length. My biggest issue is that at times the Alien seems to be a little too pervasive, if that makes sense. I think it was trotted out a bit too much when other elements of the game were just as creepy to deal with, like the Working Joes.

I have played through it. Just beat it the other day, actually. And I can totally understand, and perhaps even agree with, the statement that it is a bit too long. I had a blast playing it, all the way up until the end, but there does come a point where it suddenly feels like, "Uh...you guys are stretching this a bit, aren't you?" It kind of happens when the Working Joes you've been fighting get a bit of an upgrade. Sorry about the mirror spoiler, but it's just in relation to a bad guy. It goes from a tense, "Oh crap, oh crap, OH CRAP!" feeling to, "Again? Tch...fine."
However, if you are a fan of Alien in any way, this game is a must. Even if you're just a casual fan like myself, it's still a blast to play. If you are waiting for a price drop, then yeah, you will want this game.

Others are...hm. I enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Lords of the Fallen is okay for a new title. It's got a few issues, but it's enjoyable overall. Otherwise, I can't think of anything else at the moment. You've got the two on lock that I'm looking forward to as well: Bloodborne and Batman.

If you enjoyed Dark Souls II (I did very much), then they are releasing the remake in April, so you might want to pick that up too. I will.

Not interested in Lords of the Fallen (hear it's buggy and unbalanced as hell), and I don't care much for Dragon Age. I'm planning on getting Scholar of the First Sin on PC because the friends I play with are on PC as well, and because I played the original game on PC so I want to see how the two experiences compare (plus I'll probably get a discount or something, I don't think From Software has been clear on that part yet).

DMC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition is really good. There are a ton of improvements from last gen consoles, like 60 frames per second, turbo mode, lock on, and lots of gameplay and A.I changes. I'm really impressed with how much effort they put into the remake, they didn't just make the graphics a little better and call it a day. They fixed almost all of the issues that were present in the last gen version. Plus, it has a ton of replay value and some brutally difficult game modes if you're a masochist like me. The gameplay isn't just button mashing, there's actually a lot of different moves you need to master if you want to survive NG+ (Son of Sparda) mode. The boss fights are also some of the most impressive.

Goody gumdrops, you mean Ninja Theory took all the fan criticisms that they spent months shitting all over during the release period of the original game and then they implemented them? Well golly gee, I can't wait to give them my money now. What great developers they are.

That was sarcasm. Could you tell that was sarcasm? I know it might have been a little subtle, especially in text form, but rest assured that it was sarcasm.

Wolfenstein : the new order is one of the best shooters, hands down, I've ever played. If you're even halfway into shooters, this is a game you'll like.

Infamous second son get's my vote aswell, but don't bother getting the standalone expansion.

Killzone : shadowfall could be great, if you don't have any expectations by having played the previous games. I personally hated it, but that's because I was expecting a radically different game.

I also recommend Orochi 3: Ultimate, a ton of content with simple but fun and flashy gameplay. If you are a fan of the Warriors games I cannot recommend Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi enough. Very similar but I feel that the combat system is better, not surprising since it is made by former Devil May Cry developers. It is also more lighthearted and over-the-top than a Warriors game if you can believe it.

Unfortunately, the series is currently Japan so no English version is available. I didn't have too much trouble playing the game even with the language barrier. The PS4 is region free so you will have no problems playing if you choose to check it out.

Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi releases in the summer in Japan.

I'm seeing Wolfenstein way down in price used. It's on my radar. Of all my PS4 games, I've likely put the most time into Infamous and like it a lot. What's funny is, so far, I like the expansion and it was free with Sony PS+. Might be again some day.

I think with Arkham Knight, Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 you have the current-gen essentials down (I would add Silent Hills, another exclusive, as well as Kingdom Hearts 3, which is cross-platform, and whatever's the name on the PS4 edit of The Last of Us). Alien Isolation and Shadows of Mordor are good cross-gen games as well.

Is Silent Hills exclusive to the PS4? I didn't realize. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on that.

Already own The Last of Us on PS3 but I might buy the PS4 version when it goes down in price. I have a friend who I really want to play the game but he has trouble with games that aren't 60fps.
