It's been officially announced at Gamescom. And I'm sure the forum is going to be flooded, but just in case people have been sleeping, Sony has announced the PS4 release dates! Just a few months away.

Uh, I'm a PC gamer (and thus no expert on consoles), but is there a reason there's a massive gap between NA and EU releases?

Oh, here's a source by the way. Most sites haven't had the chance to write about it yet it seems.

Whoa whoa whoa. That is just terrible. A major electronic release two weeks before Black Friday? Are they insane? I feel extra sorry for all retail workers this November. Godspeed, you poor SOBs. Godspeed.

It's minuscule compared to the NA and EU PS3 release dates. IIRC it was something like six months, I wasn't interested in one at the time so did not pay too much attention. I do have a PS4 pre-order however and was hoping for mid October as per some net rumours but I'll settle for that.

:)

*edit*
Looked it up and it was over two months later (my bad), still a fair while and only after it had shipped over a million in both Asia and NA.

I'm kinda surprised there isn't an official news post of this yet on Escapist. Usually they are on top of news like this. Guess not a whole lot of people paid attention to Gamescom, or forgot it was today. Hell I didn't even know until I read a forum link that lead me to it. the PS4 release date was... more or less the highlight of the show. Everything else was the same old crap, push the Vita, PS3 is still relevant, indie titles, and Assassins Creed 4 and Watch Dogs.

So the writing between the lines, in size 72 font, is "fuck you Europe!" ... it is subtle but it is there. If you watched the show you will have also heard a nice little stab at microsoft, which was funny!

While I am feeling miffed, I think this is the only mis-step Sony have taken during this next gen war.

And what is 15 days, really? I've got new misfits, Arrow starts the month before, GTA will be out, saints row will be out and I am sure there is some stuff I am missing.

So I am not too bothered but I would have liked an even release date.

Sony has always put more effort into American market vs the EU market.
You only have to look as far as the ps store. A game that $60 is £60 in England and even worse for the ? as far as I am aware. That and games releasing 3 days before the EU (generally) and the superior game selection, especially with the ps2 classics section.

Unfortunately, this just seems to solidify their disinterest in appealing to the smaller European market and this makes me sad.

I pre-ordered [http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2924/p328.jpg] mine a little late, might not get it on launch day I spent to much time deciding whether or not to get one at launch and wait till February/March next year to see if there are any problems or anything.

Gameplay vids of Killzone: Shadowfall and free Drive Club for PS+ users changed my mind, kinda funny how I got a PS4 and two games for around the cost of an Xbox One and XBL Gold.
