Ooooohhhhhh, so that's why my nephew can't get his shiny new Xbox One to work on Christmas Day. That sucks, that seriously and honestly sucks. Bunch of fucking assholes.

To be honest, nothing like this ever happens to Nintendo either as far as I'm aware. And Wii U is a nice system.
I've had a LOT of criticisms for the internet infrastructure of the regular Wii (when it still worked... or rather "barely"), but today I've updated from scratch my brand new WiiU, watched Netflix in FHD, updated and played a few Mario Kart 8 online matches, browsed through the shop for quite a while, watched some vids on YouTube and browsed with it's built in browser in the span of 5 to 6 hours nonstop and it all worked flawlessly.

So yeah, for all the shit Ninty gets, at least their online infrastructure for the WiiU* survived Christmas Day with a flawless victory.

[small]*Seriously, I'm fucking impressed with the console itself!, neither the 360 nor the Xbone impressed me, but the WiiU, goddamn!, it's a REALLY nice system! :D[/small]

While it sucks for the people who just got new consoles today and cannot connect, being someone who works in the IT field, I feel especially bad for the network engineers that have been conscripted to deal with this issues on Christmas. I've seen what happens when shit goes down on Christmas. The client doesn't give half a shit if it's a holiday or not, you gotta fix it.

What I find hysterical is the attention whoring that lizard squad does. All this x amount of likes or x amount retweets for xblive or psn to stay online or offline is stupid. The most ironic thing they are doing is offering xbox live codes for 12 months and some for 50$ if you follow them.....uhhhhhh why would you give popularity to someone for a prize they will essentially destroy...all the durp

See, I just don't think these fools understand that the people who really get hurt the most aren't the corporations, its the families and kids who play on consoles. Especially since its Christmas, its definitely the kids who just want to play whatever new game(s) they got or set up a new console from either company and can't because some little punk ass douchebag thinks they're sticking it to the man. They don't see or care about who really gets hurt in the end. I know its not physical, I know its not necessarily monetarily that these kids are harmed but it definitely puts a huge dent in their holiday joy.
It'd be like if when I was a kid and got my first NES someone cut the power to the neighborhood, either for shits and giggles or some bullshit "cause". I'd have been crying a bit because I remember how much I was anticipating plugging in the NES for the first time and if I wasn't able to turn it on because of some jerkoff(s), I'd have definitely had a part of my Christmas ruined.
It doesn't make things better when idiots do shit like this, it just harms the little guy and makes whatever cause they might think they're serving a waste of resources and makes them the bad guy. And if they're doing it just to be assholes? Fuck 'em, throw the book at them.
I do hope their caught, put through some hell of prosecution and get some jail time out of it. And maybe Sony and Microsoft should sue the hell out of them for damages and they go into debt or bankruptcy paying it off... Yes that would be proper. Maybe even get legally banned from using computers for a few years or something.
Fucking little punk ass douchbags.

Well, I was going to watch a movie through the PS store this evening. Thanks, assholes.

It's also nice to see that the "master race" are basically condoning this idiotic behavour. Stay classy.

Another Hacker group called Finest Squad took these idiots on today and managed to stop them. They've also posted the names and addresses of those in Lizard Squad online.

Quite the compelling drama.

Too bad my friend's 8 year old son couldn't set up his new Xbox One though. Shameful act. Literally ruining Christmas.

Ah, so now I know what stopped me from being able to check PSN for all of Christmas Day...

Seriously, though, this kind of behavior, despite apparently coming from a bunch of people who have more in line with the Glorious PC Master Race (as an aside, I LOATHE that term, even when it is used for the sake of humor: the whole system wars thing is pretty much a case of "Shut up and get back to gaming" for me), is more in line with the behavior you'd expect from the people normally labelled as Call of Duty fanboys. Short sighted idiocy which ultimately does nothing beyond annoying a bunch of people and making everyone else go "We don't want to be associated with you in our hobby". This is especially idiotic if Anonymous really did say what basically amounts to "Don't do it or we'll make you pay"...I really hoping that is true, because I imagine Anonymous are going to tear Lizard Squad a new one if they did say that!

This hits me far worse than a lot of people probably realize, though. I live in a fairly large town which has poor internet connection (it's not awful, but it's definitely not city level: downloading the Mass Effect trilogy as a whole took about seven or eight hours, and then I had to install them on top of that!) AND all of my friends live at least fifty miles away from me. If I want to go meet up with them, I have to travel for nearly two hours on the bus (each way), which also means that I'm exhausted from being on the bus all day. So this means me gaming with my friends isn't going to happen at all until this gets sorted. Yeah...perspective is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Still, I have a plan B (I've got a PS2 and a recently purchased copy of Rayman M, plus I'm already intending to meet my friends on Sunday for non-video gaming reasons and I've got a few other non-gaming related stuff to do that I can do on my own), so I'm luckier than some, I guess, as I can keep myself entertained without too much difficulty until PSN is back on!

Big deal; it probably took them, what, about thirty minutes to get bored?

Like as not it was just a bottleneck and these screwheads are just posing to take credit.

'lizard fuckers' is a good way to label them. maybe they should be refered to as that on the internet from now on or even 'lizard sized penis squad'

I do not believe Lizard Squad was behind this. Even if they were, I find it very hard to care. Problems often lead to solutions, so hopefully this won't happen next year and we'll all be one step closer to utopia.
And I left my PS4 at my apartment when I came home for Christmas. My family keeps me too busy to care.

I doubt there ever was one. Any idiot can claim responsibility for something, especially if it's to troll.

I was thinking something similar. I tried logging on to the PSN earlier today (to check if there was any free DLC for my new game) and "an error occurred". I thought nothing of it. I kept playing for the rest of the evening and decided to give the PSN another go before turning in for the day, and everything went OK. Only now do I read about this supposed hack attack. To me it was just "we're experienced problems". Happens to everybody. Sometimes my internet connection doesn't work. Sometimes my cell phone doesn't work. Sometimes my computer doens't work. It is what it is. No reason to think otherwise.

The only real problem I had all day was not being able to Get on World of Tanks and that was only a minor inconvenience. I can only see these loses as a bunch of nobodies who have nothing better to do with their miserably pathetic lives than try and ruin other people's day. I mean really, what reason could you possibly have to even bother with this kind of stupid crap other than being a pathetic excuse for a human being who just happens to know how to do this kind of crap and has way too much free time on your hands?

I remember when Lulzsec were doing this. Their members aren't laughing now, and in a while, neither will the members of... whoever did this. They think they're untouchable, untraceable. And maybe they are, for now. But these guys/gals won't stop. They'll continue to harass businesses and keep pushing the limit further and further and one day they'll slip up and they'll be caught and then they won't be laughing no more.

One member of Lulzsec wrote a piece in the Guardian claiming that he's a "hacktivist" and that he was standing up for people. It was quite a funny read, given that more than 80% of the crap they did was of no benefit to anyone, ever, and was done for the sole purpose of annoying others and feeling that heady rush of power that all teenagers crave. He's in jail now, and all the whining about his 'predicament" won't get him out any sooner.

I'll just wait for the FBI and the British Police to do their thing.

Well at least its not a Sony exclusive this time, didn't see any major or minor bashing from the Microsoft fan boys and girls.

The Lizard Squad guys again? Really? At this point I'm not even mad, I'm just exasperated. "Oh dear lord, the rowdy kids from down the street have put a ball through my window for the one hundred and eighty seventh time. Sigh." Why are they doing this? I doubt they are even trolls at this point, because I doubt that enough people are reacting with enough outrage to satisfy them if they were.
From what I understand its just advertising. They sell their services to people and people know if they can take down Xbox Live they can take down most things.

I sincerely hope they get arrested, and I'm normally against taking years away from someones life for something relatively harmless like this. If it was directly getting them money or something, sure, annoying but understandable. But at this point everyone knows them and they are simply assholes. The cops could make a fortune off filming the reactions of its members as they realize how boned they are.

Gaming God Race reporting in, they may have taken my PS4 and Xbone but my Wii U and PC are still under my control. Christmas is not tarnished by these pitiful children.
