Still not sure if this is true, or it's just the media making up stories again. Frankly I'm getting sick of hearing nothing but doom for PS3 users, seeing as I was one for a year.

SOE has been hacked, not PSN. There different things.

I feel sorry for Sony at the moment. Loads of bad PR, PSN users being impatiant and going to 360, losing money trying to do the right thing.

You'll probably see a lot of this with each of its gaming branches at the center.

Remember, sony isnt a gaming company, and thats not where they make there money. Sony hould just do (for all intensive purposes) a full gaming shut down for a few days, get everything under control, put up its protection, then start back up.

will they lose profit? Sure. Wil they lose progress? of course. But at least you'll be in (somewhat) control, and can tackle this, plugging a leak and not worrying about another springing up.

Well, to be honest, there was no need for verbal abuse there...

Also I would be 100% behind you if Sony had just GIVEN the personal information. Unless you are a hacker involved in the attack or a Sony employee in charge of security you know nothing of HOW Sony was protecting the information. Also it's perfectly fine to feel bad for them... Sony (as faceless as it is) still has a lot of very human employees (all of them, I hope, with faces) and they will be taking a lot of flak. Losing their jobs even if Sony keeps taking hits by people who feel they can attack the big faceless corporation.

In the end I feel bad for them, but I also feel angry. Angry that not enough people are angry at the hackers responsible...

I play my ps3 almost constantly and almost always online, and I don't even care that the network is down. Buy Mortal Kombat or Portal 2 and L2 play some single player, baddies. In neither of those games do I have to worry about the 12 year old with AK74u random head-shotting me from the hip at 75 yards. I win.

Yes, how dare he have the slightest amount of dignity about himself and show compassion to a company that clearly doesn't want this to happen and is currently probably more upset than you can imagine. A faceless company still has real people inside, and this is bad PR for them and they don't want this anymore than the customers. If they didn't care about the consumer as you say, why would they be compensating them, offering to fix any stolen credit cards and giving people free games.

TL;DR: Somewhere in your sentence, you're being either Ironic or a troll.

OT: I really hope Sony recovers. They messed up again because they are all probably in a hectic mess trying to get back up, and the hackers only kicked them while they are down and weak. They haven't even managed to recover and the hackers are taking advantage of that. Sony is big and have a lot to fix and of course it would take some time to fix everything. Plus it is obvious that someone on the inside is screwing them over. If it is true that the hackers did get the Credit card information as they said a few days ago, it would mean that they bypassed the 128-bit encryption on them. Now it would take some of the most powerful computers in the world YEARS to crack 128-bit encryption, so the only way they could have gotten it cracked is with the encryption key, which is only known by people far inside the companies. Meaning inside job.

Sony new about the exploit used to hack them for MONTHS. Did they fix it no. Did they hire a security group to stop attacks from this exploit no. All they did was try to sue people and put there head in the sand.

I dont understand why people feel sorry for them.

It's like going to a shady neighborhood with a ton of money taped to your face. Someone is going to take advantage.

Its like a bank where the vault key is under a mat and everyone knows it.

I really hope My card doesn't get used.
