Deathspank, Fat Princess, Castle Crashers, Plants v Zombies, Angry Birds, Scott Pilgrim, Joe Danger, PacMan DX, Space Invaders Infinity, Stacking, Tetris (the new release version) are all some fantastic examples of truly great games available for consoles only via the download stores. Some great compelling games that easily keep you as entertained as most of the tripple A high $$$ titles for a small fraction of the cost.

The Dead Rising 2 stand-alone addons are a lot like little mini-AAA titles, so that counts I suppose. I really enjoyed them, sometimes moreso than Dead Rising 2 itself. The BIT.TRIP series is also great.

And, look I know this isn't on the XBLA, PSN, or Wii Store, but VVVVVV is fucking awesome and eats most AAA titles for breakfast. The gameplay is reminiscent of "ye olde times," but the design is a lot like Portal - i.e., fantastically polished and perfect in every way. Also it's only $5.

Since it hasn't been mentioned: Raskulls. It's an amazing combination of a racing game, a block stacking game, a fighting game (in a sense), a platformer, and a puzzler. The various ways they worked out to make the game even (including making it so people behind don't have to destroy blocks to give them a chance to catch up). It's really an amazing game with a funny story in my opinion.

I recently picked up a game called Modern Combat: Domination. It's a hell of a lot like Call of Duty (Minus the story, but nobody cares about that) with a bit of Counter-Strike thrown in. What makes it so much better than CoD, though? The fact that it's less than a fifth of the price certainly keeps me happy. You can get it on PSN for $8. It also has Move support, if anyone cares about that.

I liked Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game. I'd probably still be playing it if I hadn't ruined it by playing constantly for about two weeks.

Doritos Crash Course is absolutely amazing as well, for a free game anyway. 'Eff you arty farty story-based games, I'm gonna go throw my Live avatar at big, squishy obstacle courses.

Not sure if it would count but as it's only available for download I'll chuck it out there. Amnesia: the dark descent

Screw the console stores, try Steam sometimes. (Cue some Steam-haters who have some un-justifiable hatred of Steam, or Valve in general).
No, I'd say cue the people who aren't incredibly ignorant and dislike Steam for perfectly justifiable reasons.
Come on, get off your high horse and except the fact that some people don't like the same things as you.

They're actually putting it in retail stores in the near future.

No irony in doing the same thing to the "Steam haters," I'm sure. I mean, it's impossible anyone would have legit criticism of Steam or Valve, right?

Hey, any games on either of the networks that offer more gameplay fun then you can find in a lot of retail games?

I've played quite a few, but games like Dead Nation remind me of Left for dead. I have more fun playing it then a lot of full retail games I've played.

So can you think of any others you've learnt to love more than many retail games?
I didn't know about "Dead Nation" before. Now I must have it.

Other winners:

Geometry Wars 1 and 2. these are two of my best purchases ever in terms of cost to play time. And while I'd never pay 60 bucks, they'd still have one of the best cost to time rations if I did.

Conditionally, Magic: The Gathering DotP. It's glitchy, it's kind of broken, and Stainless can't release an update without completely breaking the game, but it's addictive and fun. I'm not saying it's perfect, but the play time, the time playing with friends, etc.

Popcap games in general: PVZ, Feeding Frenzy, and probably others.

Defense Grid: One of my fave Tower Defense games ever.

Don't have many PSN games and no Wiiware titles, so this is a stacked list.

id say crash commando (2D CoD), Lara Croft:tGoL ,Shatter,SPvtW (kinda crippled by lack of online co-op),fat princess, toy soldiers (greatest tower defense ever)

I'm of course going to say Plants vs. Zombies.

Next, now yes it was retail back when it was on the PS1, but I'm going to mention it anyway:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I got it off the XBox Live Marketplace, but I'm betting the PSN Network probably got it on around the same time.

It is a very solid, platformer with a RPG style experience/leveling system and equipping.

It's great, I finally got 100% completion on it.

Super Stardust HD, Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Ikaruga

Most of the other stuff is either bad, or cheaper and better at Steam.
