I have a PSP and i fuckin love it, i always have it with me wherevr i go. I think a new psp would be sweet, i have the original PSP 1001 lol. With that said, i think maybe some new games with better graphics would be a better start, this way they might be able to get more people to buy a new one if they c a good game and dont have a PSP. It seems like the PSP has somewhat gone underground, there have been quite a few games i would like to c for the PSP, some sort of paintball game especially.

i pray it doesn't have a touch screen. usually touch screens just get in the way and piss me off!
Agreed the touch screen would become a major gimic which would turn it into another DS and tbh i'm not overly fond of mine.

While sales and hardware wise the PSP is great and is not a flop on the software side it is. The PSP lost so many games after 06/07 although 09 looks okay from the third party side Sony hasn't really supported the thing (one AAA game isn't enough especially considering there is no Motorstorm PSP game). Hopefully a real revamp (dual sticks) in the form of a PSP-4000 but a PSP 2 seems a bit early and I don't like the idea of an iPhone clone (although that's just me and my hate of touchscreens).

Has anyone else done the remote play thing on their ps3, i tryed doing it on my home router (just turning it on from standby reomtely was fun) but i was dissapointed when i found out you can't run any disks from the machine, not even a DVD. I can play ps1 games from my ps3 but i can also upload my ps1 games onto my psp so i don't suffer any lag. The only use i can find for it is downloading stuff for my PSP from my ps3, but i can do that from my psp anyway, so i can't see the point of it, other than checking up on some long download for your ps3.

So, yeah, next model better remote play functions.

Edit: i have the 2003 model if anyone's interested

Sony has already said that they are not working on a PSP 2 right now.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandtechnology/technology/technologyreviews/videogamereviewsandpreviews/4370082/PSP2-rumours-denied-by-Sony.html

And that there is no touchscreen PSP coming out.
http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Sony_No_Touchscreen_for_PSP_2/551-98279-585.html

Firefly90 Resistance Retribution will have vastly improved remote play other than that and Lair though remote play is useless.

the touchcreen thing is abit of a downer. If people heard that it would have one could create some hype. But everyone here thinking a touch screen would be the major selling point of the game and all games would use that. but I'm just saying if they did have a touch screen the snart thing for sony to do would be to make a bonus to make interface easier. Who here can deny that their are some parts of a menu or something that would be easir to use if you could just touch.

they need to make some more decent games. But, should they make a PSP 2, they should have another Analog stick.

Nice, but thats not what i was on about, i was on about the psp function that allows you connect to the ps3 and remotely operate it via the internet from say an internet cafe.

Thats a pretty nice list of features their, but I doubt they are going to allow homebrew. Theirs nothing wrong with it and it's actually a good idea, but they probably won't. To allow everyone to be able to make their own programs for a system like this just screams the word "hack". IT would only be amatter of time before someone makes something that could really mess up the PSP.
What I meant by "allow homebrew" I meant actually take some of the good mods that would only improve functionality and use them. The game burning software is a problem yes and I would never use such a thing if i had CFW, but if sony properly licensed some of those ideas..WOW would that ever be great.

Well your in luck because one is being made for the PSP.

NO NO NO save that for the psp2. Implementing it now would be BAD DESIGN and marketing this late in the things life.

I doubt that, while the PSP might not be too hot over here unfortunately, it has done well everywhere else. The problem with support for the thing is because everyone knows Nintendo and their system make money, so devs always take the safe route. I normally don't blame piracy for game related problems..but when it comes to the PSP I have to partially blame pirates for a somewhat lack of support while the other half of the blame falls on third party devs and Sony's marketing.

I know that would be amazing, but Sony would never do it. Their would be so many legal issues.

Yes indeed we need hot pocets. Maybe a mini-fridge.

I know this would probably never happen but I think it would be really cool if Sony were to sign a deal with Fox or ABC or something to allow them to stream TV on the PSP.
Or they could make a deal with verizon to have a built in wireless broadband connector so you can go on the internet at anytime or anyplace.

Actually...they DO have a TV tuner type device. Problem is it's only in Japan and it picks up on a wireless network they have set up over there.

Tanking? Oh no, The PSP still makes money, just not as much as they would want/need. My guess it would all depend on how much money they are making and the current economy.

The PSP has had a pretty good success, considering that the handheld market is supposedly owned by Nintendo. I think we'll see a successor to the PSP within the next 2 years.
A technological overhaul will really increase the appeal of handhelds again.
