I'm in my second semester of college and as it happens, there are a couple days in which I have about an hour between a couple classes. Since I have a PSP go laying around, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for games I can get to play during these breaks.

EDIT: I s'pose I can tell you what games I already own.
ModNation Racers
Killzone Liberation
GTA: Vice City Stories
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Socom Fireteam Bravo 3
LittleBigPlanet
Angry Birds

Dissidia final fantasy 012. Great fighting game and it has the original dissidia story as well so you don't have to worry about needing to buy both.

Good for a quick session or long ones. So I think it would be perfect.

I'm definitely considering FF Tactics as I've played it before and had a bunch of fun with it.

Half Minute Hero looks interesting. I'll play the demo first.

As far as Dissidia goes, I played the demo a little bit and it was cool, but it felt..... I don't know, empty isn't the right word but can you see what I'm getting at? Does the full game have more to it than that?

EDIT: Fixed hilarious typo

I have the same dilemma as you. I know Tactics inside out and Dissidia seems like button-mashing acrobatics. I'll probably pick up Suikoden or FF9, but I guess these games wouldn't fit your needs.

Hard to tell what you're really asking. It doesn't feel err, empty. It has a pretty good story (For a fanservice game anyway) and it has some pretty deep rpg elements. It's a few different modes besides story as well but the story alone will take up quite a bit of time. I'm currently on I think 24 Hours.

There's straight up one on one battles where you just pick your character and your opponent and fight.

An arcade mode where you pick a character and fight 3-5 opponents in succession.

Labyrinth, probably the most interesting of all the modes. I can't really explain well myself but here's a wiki article on it: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Labyrinth_%28Dissidia_012%29

And of course the local online play, but that's really only good if you have another friend to play it with.

Aside from that though they also have an extensive catalog of unlockables like extra characters and alternate outfits etc.

That's just what I can think of though. If you want to go on more then my opinion the final Fantasy wiki above has all the info on the game.

What I was getting at is the demo probably isn't a good representation of the game. All you get to do is pick from a couple characters and do a simple battle. It sounds cool and I think I'll like it, so I'll keep it inconsideration.

Monster Hunter Unite :D

You can pause the game and flip off the PSP at anytime, and return back into the combat right where you were. This makes it great for short bursts of play. And its a game you can invest A LOT of time in. I put 600+ hours into it, and i still havent seen all the content.

I've heard a lot about this series and how it's created a rabid following, so I'll check it out. The premise does sound awesome.

Perfect for an hour to kill.
Looks really cool. Thanks for the recommendation. My list is getting bigger now. It's gonna be hard to narrow it down to a couple games.

Essentially anything with an "anytime pause" would be just fine. FF9 on the psp is pretty fun - I downloaded it and took it with me when I went abroad just to have something to play that wouldn't suck me in too much to distract me from my studies (I'd played it before, but I think even on the first go-round there's enough downtime to facilitate short term burst play)

It's already been said, but I'll give it a second nomination.

Buy Dissidia.

Favorite PSP title hands down for me. :3

Game mechanics are more than easy enough to understand and get a wrap around quickly, the story keeps you entertained, and you'll have the time of your life tearing your hair out trying to beat Chaos xD

Where do i begin?
Untold Legends, Dungeon Crawler, both Brotherhood of the Blade and the Sequel
Symphony of the Night (Best Castlevania game ever, massive amounts of hidden weapons, armor, secret rooms, fun boss fights)
Pixeljunk Monsters, awesome Tower defense game, quirky art style
Tales of Eternia: Huge game, action RPG, fun title
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, awesome dungeon crawler
God of War: Ghost of Sparta, better combat than the first one, and the new fury meter was a nice addon.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep. Combat is solid, the story is confusing but good, and its a good game to play for an hour at a time.

A space shooter for 2 bucks. Cheap game, bullet hell title, voice acting is campy but hilarious
Age of Zombies. Barry Steakfries is an awesome hero, and its zombie dinosaur blowing up fun.

Lemme know if you need any more. I love my PsP

Patapon and LocoRoco are my two favorite series on the system by far. Clever, original, and addicting. Game sessions aren't likely to last you an hour either (though in the case of Patapon, you'll have to gauge your time because the first two games don't have any sort of pause other than turning your PSP into sleep mode, but missions typically last about five minutes so it's not a huge concern) Patapon is a nice innovation amidst the dozens of Guitar Hero and DDR games. I raged every year that I saw awards for rhythm/music games where it wasn't even mentioned. The second one is only available via the online store though. LocoRoco's an addicting exploration-platformer of sorts that really appeals to everyone from the casual to the hardcore. I put 160+ hours into it. There's several demos for LocoRoco around the internet (a few of them are only available in Japanese so you can't download them directly from the PSN store) so give it a shot. There's also some demos for Patapon so be sure to give that a shot as well. LocoRoco levels can take a while if you're exploring fully, but you can pause that without much trouble so it's fine.

Peace Walker! Who doesn't love short bursts of Big Boss sneaking around and beating goons senseless while kidnapping a whole army?

Twisted Metal Head-On.

There isn't a single arcade-style PSP game that can even think of reaching it.

Archibald's Adventures

Brilliant 2D puzzle-platformer that I've been playing on and off the past few months. Great puzzles/level design, and almost 200 levels!
