I HATED Crisis Core. I know many people love everything FF7 (take a look at Dirge of Cerberus' popularity...), but the battle system was atrocious. Really? You want me to press X a few more times? I don't mind turn-based compared to that spew. I got about 3/4's of the way through and lost my will to play.

Loved Ratchet and Clank, MGS, GoW, Daxter, random racing games, puzzle games, other turn-based RPG's, and Resistance. Star Wars Battlefront (any of them) wasn't bad either.

Yeah, I agree with you, I hated that game, I still don't get the "limit breaks", which I think was like a fruit machine or something. I hated the mission thing too, the rewards are so petty for some of things you had to do, like kill 1000 of this enemy. I never completed it either.

Guilty Gear Accent Core XX Plus is one of the craziest fighters I've ever played, well the characters are anyway (Looking at you Bridget). God of War is pretty damn cool, as you'd probably expect from a God of War game. One game I'm looking foward to is Half-Minute Hero.

One downer was Jak and Daxter : The Lost Frontier. I downloaded it through the PlayStation Store and a waste of £20.

There are a few games that don't suck. Many of which are available on PSN for download. But if it is cartridges that you're after then here is a short list of a few good games.

Action
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
God of War
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Little Big Planet

Strategy
Disgaea
Disgaea 2
Jeanne D'Arc
Patapon

Puzzle/Arcade
Lumines
Space Invaders Extreme
Tetris

Daxter
Jeanne d'Arc
Crush
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Umm...

Yeah, those are the only good exclusives I can think of. At least the only ones that really make the system worth buying... a few others, like Patapon, would be in there, but I could live without playing those.

The DS is overall a better system: not the multimedia capabilities or better graphics, but a much bigger library of much, much better games. The World Ends with You for the win! :D

I HATED Crisis Core as well. The slot machine system was the deal breaker for me. Imagine you got 777 (thats a level up, in case you didn't know) then your psp dies before you save then when you load your last save you don't get a 777 for a month.
'nuff said.

PSP is solid enough, 2009 was good it it in the games that came out not so much sales, I don't regret the $100 dollars I spent on it last December considering the DS's lack luster year.

Unfortunately my favorite PSP game is Japanese only, Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus.

I have a 360 as well as my PSP. An Xbox 360 arcade game called N+ based on some internet arcade game N came out for the PSP. It's incredibly addictive with a relatively balanced learning curve. Also, GoW: Chains of Olympus is amazing!

Is Little Big Planet really that good? I have the one for PS3 and it's quality, but I was wondering how well it transferred over to a portable?

If you even slightly like any sorts of puzzle games, Lumines is great. Extremely addicting and with stylish presentation. And this is coming from someone who doesn't much care for games like Tetris.

As a new PSP owner (I picked up one second hand for the first time last week) my current faves:

Brave story
(turn based JRPG, addicted to it so far)

Me & My Katamari
(struggling with the controls so far, but it's a fun and very weird game)

Loco Roco
(actually liking the soundtrack a little bit more than the game so far , but it's still great fun :) )

GTA and Darkstalkers. And the Final Fantasy ones (Tactics, and that other one) are good too.
