Gender: Male

Genres: Country, rock, metal, hip-hop, bluegrass, idk if it's a genre but music from musicals. I'm having some issues remembering them all, but just about anything that isn't Rap, techno, dubstep, or death metal.

Favorite Genre: Country

Presence: 9

Prefer: Solo artists

Favorite Artist: Very tough call, probably either Jason Aldean or Linkin Park

Inspired: Hell yes.

Support: I buy all my music because I'm not a filthy pirate

How: Typically itunes, but sometimes CDs

Dress sense: Very rarely.

Hours each day: probably an average of about 5 hours. Used to be a lot more. Sometimes I still listen all day though.

Heya guys, i just came back (for my first post in god knows how long) to see if anyone would be kind enough to answer a little questionnaire on music for me? (college work)
but a good music thread is always good right?

anyway:

what genres of music do you like? rock, metal, classical, soundtracks, alternative rock, blues, comedy/parody music (lonely island, tim minchin etc), solo guitar work (both acoustic and shred), industrial metal

1.Male, age 23, British (bonus info!)

2.Alternative Rock, Metal, alt metal, alternative, indie rock, industrial, some experimental, some classical, some electronica. Although not a genre, I'm also something of a collector of interesting film soundtracks (some game ones as well).

3. Alternative (in general)

4. 3-4

5. Bands, but more because that coincides with favoured genres than any innate preference

6. Garbage, System of a Down. Also Muse, Stone Roses.

7. no

8. yes

9. I buy all my music (usually on CD because I'm a luddite)

10. In a minor way (I own some band shirts).

11. Less than an hour (usually when travelling, and cooking, equating to a few hours a week)

Are you male or female?
Male

What genres of music do you like?
Rock (and most subgenres thereof: Classic, Alternative, Progressive, etc.), Rap, Electronic, Instrumental, Video Game/ Chiptune, Comedy, Funk, and then random, individual samples of others I can't recall.

What is your favourite genre?
Classic Rock

How much of a presence does music have in your life?
1-10, 1 being none, 5 being enough to be opinionated, 10 to be music central.

I suppose a 7.

Do you prefer solo artists or bands?
No preference.

Who is your favourite music artist?
I can't really say. I mean, saying I like The Rolling Stones more or less than Eminem is like saying I like pumpkin lattes more or less than I like Dr. Pepper. They're not really comparable. Apples and oranges.

Would you say music has inspired you?
Yes.

Do you support your artists/genres? (e.g buying music)
When I have money, yes.

If so how?
Purchasing their music and some shirts.

Does music influence your dress sense? (band shirts or such clothing).
A bit. I usually wear something over it, though. It's not like I do it promotionally, like "Hey, this is my Rolling Stones T-shirt, I like the Rolling Stones."

how often do you listen to music per day?
>1hour 1-2 hours 2-3 hours 3-6 hours +6 hours?

Definitely 6+. There's music all around.

Alright... I'm game...

-Male

-All that quality as a genre of music (I don't judge...)

-Alternative (Anything alternative by nature...)

-7 or 8 (Let's say 7 for now...)

-Both; never something I think about to be honest...

-Gorillaz (Hands down!! ...Followed by Tupac, Nujabes, Flying Lotus, and John Coltrane, of course...)

-...Yes (But, not in a musical way...)

-Yes... I purchase all of their albums (mainly physical copies, rarely digital unless last resort) and related DVDs...

-No; it's mostly TV shows and anime that does that...

-6+ hours (Day and Night; Ipod or CD player)

I'm quite diverse musically, I don't favouritise or idenitify with just one genre I like "good music".
I do not let music define who I am. I am a person, not a genre. Happy to help

Are you male of female?
Your white fat male nerd steretype here

what genres of music do you like? (list any/all)
Rock/metal, but i sometimes listen to other genres if i find good artist, for example Gavin (Miracle of Sound). I also like some musicals ("Once more, with feeling", "Repo, The Genetic Opera"), but not your traditional musical.

what is your favourite genre?
If id have to pick, i probably like metal more. Ah, but thats a large genre isnt it. Power metal and Nu-metal is the most popular in my collection. I dont like trash metal at all though.

how much of a presence does music have in your life?
1-10 1 being none, 5 being enough to be opinionated, 10 to be music central.
The scale isnt detailed, but lets say a 7

do you prefer solo artists or bands?
I wouldnt say i have a preference, but over 90% of stuff i listen to are bands, so i guess that then

who is your favourite music artist?
That would be Disturbed

would you say music has inspired you?
A big, resounding, yes.

do you support your artists/genres? (e.g buying music)
Yes

if so how?
Either buying their music, directly from them when possible, or supporting them in other direct ways. i try to go around the publishers and thier 80% margins, because i want to support artist, not publisher

does music influence your dress sense? (band shirts or such clothing).
No. For a metalhead like me i dress closer to what stereotypical trance listener looks like. and i hate trance

how often do you listen to music per day?
>1hour 1-2 hours 2-3 hours 3-6 hours +6 hours?
that depends on the day a lot. some days its a 30 minutes ride from work to university, other days its a 13 hour listening everywhere i go.
But lets do averages then i guess, 1-2 hours from what i calculate from my Last.fm profile. though how complete that is i dont know, there could be a lot of stuff listening (it does not track stuff i listen on the phone for example).

PS, do you mind sharing the aggregated results later on?

On the contrary, market research is part of psychology. Though doing market research under false pretenses taints the data. I'm sure the OP realizes this, were that the case.
you are both kinda wrong :p im doing this for a psychology class in college, i lacked results so decided i would get some extra via one of the more diverse websites i could think of.
it has worked but i am waiting for how i have done right now and may post again about it!

I would say Rock,

About 6, I tend to listen to music every day,

Bands slightly more than Solo artists,

Miracle of Sound :D

Orchestral or Sengoku Jidai-period music can get me in the mood for stuff,
