I have an assignemt for the subject PDA and it is part of the research to ask the questions to people who are part of group called PDA.
1. Why do people do this in public?
2. What are some people's reaction?
3. Has anyone from public area been rude to you?
4. Have you participated in some kind of competition for kissing?
5. Do you feel comfortable kissing in public?

It would be more than appreciated if anyone from the group of PDAs respond to me.

I don't think people who do PDA constitute a "group". But anyway...

1. Because my partner is super cute, and I'm going to kiss him when I feel like kissing him, which is sometimes in public. It's just kissing after all. Not like we're having sex.
2. As far as I can tell, people don't seem to care.
3. Nope.
4. Lol wut? No.
5. Yeah pretty much. Felt a bit bad a couple times because I know there are people who disapprove. But then I figured, if people are genuinely bothered by two people kissing, that's really on them.

Sometimes, they just want to show affection. Sometimes, it's because they're in a bit of a "honeymoon period".

I've read a few anti-PDA sentiments around. I think the average person in the street is likely to just avert their eyes.

Very much so. I gave my boyfriend a hug on a train once (no kiss, just a hug), and a stranger came out with a large amount of homophobic abuse, even standing up as he did so. It lasted for longer than five minutes, and was threatening.

On another occasion, we kissed in university halls (shared accommodation, so not really public, but not entirely private). A passing stranger insulted us.

No. I've played spin-the-bottle, though.

I wouldn't feel entirely comfortable kissing a guy any more, because of past experience. I would feel fine kissing a girl.

From the what, now? There's an official group? What, do they have weekly meetings at the local Elk's Lodge, and bingo nights the first Sunday of every month?

You're thinking of Display of Affection in Public group. The Public Display of Affection group is a completely different thing. Ideologically it's closer to the Display in Public of Affection group, but takes a few cues from the Affection Display in Public group too.

1. People are affectionate and they like showing their affection to people they're fond of. Also half of them are conjoined at the hip and don't know how to go or do anything by themselves in public.

2. As long as people aren't really that GROSS about it, I don't think they care.

3. To ME? No. I'm not touchy-feely and I'm still happily single so I don't DO PDA (unless it's my mom but I love my mom most so she's an exception). I can imagine that some groups gets criticized though.

4. Is this a thing that I've been missing? I didn't know there were "kissing competitions".

5. Nnnnot particularly. I like hugging my mom but I don't like KISSING anyone. I don't even like kissing people I date. As I said, I'm just not touchy-feely and kissing spreads even more germs.

Ah, of course. Thanks for clearing that up. You know I've never much liked the DAPs, they do a lot more rabble-rousing than the PDAs. The DPAs are innocuous enough, though. Just don't even get me STARTED on the ADPs, ever since their feud with the PADs (Public of Affectionate Displays) they just haven't been the same.

1. Why do people do this in public?
For myself two reasons. Firstly sometimes I"m with someone I care about and I want to let them know
Secondly I can be a bit of an extrovert at times, and yeah I like to make a scene.

2. What are some people's reaction?
Mostly positive, sometimes uncomfortable. Some people frankly don't like it at all. most people are in the first group I think.

3. Has anyone from public area been rude to you?
not overly, I've probably heard "get a room" a couple of times

4. Have you participated in some kind of competition for kissing?
There are such things? No I haven't, but I probably would

5. Do you feel comfortable kissing in public?
kissing, holding hands, hugging. I'll happily show affection in any form I can think of, well long as it's not illegal.

How about feeling lonely as a reaction to seeing PDAs? There just seems to be couples making out everywhere after a breakup or just after being rejected. Its not their fault, but the feels. The feeeels....

Ummmm... You do know there was a thread on this like... last week? We have a Search function and everything.

1) They want to display their affection. They are in public.
2) Read the other thread. Usually a look of meh to disgust, occasional person may whip it out. However, if this is your schoolwork, this is very sloppy. Which country are we from? May have a factor in the results.
3) Yes, because it's in public and not entirely appropriate.
4) We had to cancel the Kissing Competition due to a viral outbreak of cooties and ebola.
5) No, kissing in public causes my kidneys to explode. Very uncomfortable.

1) Because they want to show their affection to their partner, and they just so happen to be in public at the time.

2)
If I'm in a relationship: "Awww.... ^_^"
If I'm not in a relationship: *sigh* :(

3) Nope.

4) Er....no?

5) Yep. As long as it's just kissing and not "lean you on your back as I rub your ass while making out like crazy".

I have a wife. I will kiss my wife if I want to kiss my wife, when I want to kiss my wife. If others have a problem with it, they haven't said anything to me. Though, I'm 6'2" and look vicious, so that might have something to do with their silence.
