Yeah that definitely looks like the ones used in the walking with dinosaurs arena show. It was an awesome show! I'm really looking forward to what they are planning for the future, they are apparently going to be doing a stage version of King Kong.

Why aren't we using stuff like this for movies? Instead of obviously shitty CGI?
Probably because with CGI you don't have puppeteers' legs sticking out of the bottom of the costume. =P
Ever heard of green screen/editing?
Have you ever heard of sarcasm?

"Oh snap! No he didn't!"

"Yes he did!"

(P.S. I'm just messing with you for the LOLs. You are welcome to abandon ship anytime.)
Right back at ya, kid.

This is like too good to be true. SO what if you can see the guy's legs. The amount of work that must have gone into this...

I love the escapist for bringing stuff like this to my attention.

Wow thats pretty damn cool, think of it this way; you put them up on a stage or something with a black background and the people wont be able to see their legs. Or hell even use green screens.

Either way thats pretty damn cool!

I didn't notice the legs until the last five seconds.

Also, I definitely agree that they should start using realistic puppet/costume/animatronic combinations in movies, as well as people in prosthetics, CGI, and amazingly detailed modeling work (Lord of the Rings, anyone?).

Yep this is in Sydney

Right next to Darling Harbour underneath the bridge.

Man it looked real until the legs popped up!

Hmm, I'll get my longsword, looks like it's time for some Giaprey hunting. Oh yes, I did.

The legs sticking out of the bottom are much less noticeable in the darkened auditorium with smoke machines filling the floor with fog. Took my kids to this show when it came through our city a few months back - totally amazing and worth every penny.

It's been said already, but I want to add to the fire until it becomes an unstoppable forest blaze. Movies should be doing this instead of shitty CGI.

Here's a video of a dude who made his own General Greivous costume, and it looks better than just about anything in the prequel trilogy.

...That is just ADORABLE.
Why I would find flesh-eating reptiles cute, even I don't know...

According to the video's description, this was part of a show that the user saw while in Australia. I'm not sure, but it looks like this was in the open shopping area near the Sydney Aquarium (I'll rely on our Australian readers to confirm the location). It's clearly time for a return trip.
It looks like it is in Darling Harbor in Sydney.
Basically there are a load of shops around the harbor itself (which is suitably u-shaped) one of which is a sea world/lizard world combo. Which is what the video appeared to be infront of. The whole area is a tourist trap.

For those interested here it is in google maps: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?layer=c&z=4&utm_campaign=en_AU&utm_medium=ha&utm_source=en_AU-ha-apac-au-gns-svn&utm_term=main_button

Personally I'm bummed I didn't know that it was happening as my eldest loves dinosaurs right now..

Those look fantastic. I mean I've seen some pretty good animatronic dinosaurs in the past but given that these are just costumed people, it looks really impressive.

Yeah, I have to agree these look similar to the Walking With Dinosaurs puppets. Saw the show last year here in the states. There is a Behind the Scenes documentary floating around out there that shows how they made them. It's really interesting if you have about 90 - 120 mins to kill.

Wow. Even though the legs are clearly visible, its amazingly realistic. The movement is very fluid.

Lucky kids.
