Name: Kerwyn Smith
Age and DOB: 29, May 28, 1866
Gender: Male
Race and Background: An Englishman born at the height of the Victorian Era, Kerwyn Smith and his family enjoyed an age of relative peace and prosperity. Kerwyn learned his family's business at an early age, and perhaps it was a combination of these factors which turned him into the man he would be. He made his name as a wealthy businessman in London, dealing in his family's textile business and expanding it to new levels of productivity.
He might have turned his business into a household name if not for his untimely and mysterious death in a seedy back alley outside a notoriously rough pub. While the details of his death are unclear, it is known that his sister took over the business, and in doing so discovered the 'secret' to Kerwyn's success. He had been paying well-known criminals for undisclosed 'favours,' and it soon became apparent in the following investigation that, working through these illegitimate auxiliaries, he had slowly muscled all of his competition out of business through extortion, blackmail, and simple bullying.
Personality & Sin: Kerwyn embodies the sin of greed, there is no low he will not stoop to to acquire his one true love in life, money. And while he is not entirely a miser, he is anally meticulous about every last penny he spends. Over his lifetime he had gathered a few enemies, and so had become overly paranoid, he is automatically distrustful of everyone, thinking that they are only there to steal money from him, and will attack without mercy anyone who he actually catches in an act of theft.
Appearance in Purgatory: Kerwyn appears in Purgatory much as he did in life. As a wealthy gentleman of average height and build. However, his normalcy ends there. His hair, including his small, neatly trimmed goatee, and his eyes are a light shade of green. His custom tailored suit, gloves, shoes, and even his cane also share this shade of green, with accents, such as the stitch-work and buttons being made of gold.
How did you die?: To the public, specific details of Kerwyn's death are sketchy at best, what is known is that Kerwyn entered a seedy bar in downtown London late one evening and began throwing accusations of theft at an unknown man. The two got in a brawl which was moved outside into the nearby alleyway and an hour later, Kerwyn was found with a smoking pistol in his hand, and a knife in his chest.
What really happened is not too far from that, a man Kerwyn had been paying under the table for some of these 'favours' he needed doing had been caught by the local police stealing from wealthy businessmen in town. Kerwyn, had somehow reached the conclusion that he had also been stolen from, and immediately sought out this man, unfortunately this thief was better with a knife than Kerwyn was with his pistol.
