Mah doesnt make much of a differnce.

My lil sister downloaded maple story on our PC (its the familys, i use my personal lap top) so it really doesnt bother me.

I guess you notice ads more when its some thing that you can have. (I.e. you car adds more when your looking for a car than when your staifed when the one you have)

if maple story is free, where do they get the money? people advertising on their sight? Is it just one big loop? Does the escapist advertise on other peoples sites?

Thanks for the reply Jordan; I'm certaqinly not advocating removing ads from the site... you have to pay the bills. (That's also why I don't use an ad blocker here and would rather not have to.) So long as the amount of "busy-ness" stays within reason I have no problem at all with advertising. I just ask that the voloume of animation not be so high on any particular page that it detracts from the text on that page... if you follow the comic strip "Zits", think of the father's complaint that reading the news on some Internet portals can be like trying to meditate in a casino.

I'm a very satisfied Escapist reader (even got the t-shirt), just selfishly wanting to ensure as well that there are future editions for me to keep reading.

Having ads doesn't really bother me, but that MapleStory one really did get on my nerves. Seeing that bandit/pirate/small child trying to look all baaaaad, over and over... Come on, I'm trying to read.

I can ignore the vibrating dino. I think he had too much caffeine, though; he should be more careful.
i love that Dino!

he is like my escapist mascot, telling me its all ok, no longer am i some regular joe... here... soothing... i.. am Ultrajoe...

The jerky caffeine trips do detract from my endorphin fix from the escapist, but i like to think he is just happy to see me.
