Samurai Jack is an excellent cartoon for all the points listed and including the music. Great jazzy beats really help propel those episodes with little to no dialogue. And the animated (not CG) clone wars cartoon is top notch as well. The short episodes really force the cartoon to keep a constant almost frantic pace that Genndy Tartakovsky handles really really well. The episode where Mace Windu levels about 4000 droids by himself in about 4 minutes is fantastic. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A07WNupEXk ) Tartakovsky also did Dexters Laboratory, worth checking out.
Many also mentioned Batman the animated series and I couldn't agree more. I still think that is the best incarnation of the Joker to date. He is funny, scary, deranged, and voiced by Luke Skywalker.
As far as comedy goes. Freakazoid always gave me a chuckle. Let us not forget The Tick as well, a super hero spoof with such great villains as Chairface, Arms Akimbo, and Pineapple Pocopo. A great cartoon in my opinion. Phineas and Ferb is a disney cartoon series that me and my wife watch constantly. Two genius kids think of ridiculous things to do each day of their summer vacation while their pet platypus, Perry, leads a double life as a secret agent whose primary objective is to prevent Dr. Doofenshmirtz (complete with his own evil jingle) from taking over the tri-state area.
Last but not least is The Boondocks. Based on the fabled black culture sattirical comic strip. They really made an effort to get the animation looking sharp in this show. Where many of todays cartoons have gone to a simple, sloppy style of drawing (good in its own way) The Boondocks looks like it took 1,000 Korean laborers in a sweatshop over a month to produce. Really stylish stuff, and funny as hell.
