I think it's rather pointless to talk about the Quantum Mechanical effects when it clearly violates much simpler physical principles.

In-side the sphere there is nothing and anything that goes in never comes out, which means it would be exerting no pressure on the outside world. The outside world, on the other hand, would be exerting a huge amount of pressure inward.

This would result in huge amounts of atmosphere being sucked into the sphere.

I'm guessing, this does not happen in the game. Hence the only real conclusion in a discussion like this can be "It's magic."
