Given personal experience, I'd say not drunk enough to fully comprehend.
I'm on my seventh Miller Genuine Draft (after a quarter pint of Skyy Grape vodka) so the next step is psoriasis of the liver.

Hey, I just entered my second decade.
I found myself just a few nights ago having to scroll down through a DOB Year menu. That was a little depressing.
Um... Your profile says you were born in 1991. Hate to break it to you, but you're in your third decade. (first decade from 0 to 9, second from 10 to 19, and so on and so forth)

To the OP, just wait til you hit 30. ;) On a more serious note, I can understand where you're feeling, but this too shall pass. If you feel your life lacks direction, maybe it's time to ask the hard questions. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do with your life? Those are very, very hard questions, without immediate answers, most often than not. I found that trying things out and riding out the various storms helped. Just hang in there, and talk about it with close friends. Maybe they'll have more insight (because let's face it, the Internet isn't always the best place to find advice, unfortunately)

As for my 25th birthday, my hubby took me to Venice. It was cold, and there was a foot of water in the streets when the tide came in, but it was gorgeous. So I guess I can't complain. :)

Yes, well, in my experience you need to be drunk to imbibe of the American brews.

Ah, half way to fifty! :D

I kid, for all intents and purposes, i think society regards people in their twenties as "young"- you can still go to nightclubs, get drunk and be stupid like an 18 year old. And besides, today people only tend to go past their "prime" once they reach sixty, you've got a long long way to go.

I can't for the life of me remember how I felt when I turned 25. I can remember feeling a little depressed when I turned 34 a couple of years ago. 34, that's older than Jesus of Nazareth.

Wow maybe you should try harder in university
Yeah, I regret not sticking it out and just getting a degree. Granted my major was East Asian Language and Culture, but it'd be better than nothing.

While I can relate - I'm turning 20 next year, and can't possibly imagine not being a teen anymore - it's really not something to get all depressed about. Honestly, your life is just starting.

I feel the same sort of depression as you. I'm 18, almost 19. I have Straight A GCSE's and A levels. Yet all the noobs that got D's and E's are the ones getting the jobs. I'm stuck here on the dole and in the unemployment line.

Screw school, it's freaking useless. I didn't work my entire life so far for this sort of treatment. Just goes to show, that you don't have to succeed in the classroom to get far in life.
I know exactly what you mean, someone I know failed EVERY GCSE and managed to land a 17k a year job straight out of school, I got straight A's and went to college for A levels and now I can't even find a 10k job, makes no damn sense, wasted another 2 years of my life!

I was talking to a female friend of mine the other day who I once dated for just over a year and I realised that we first met 8 years ago, I couldn't believe how long we had known each other and it really screwed with my brain.

Kinda pissed that relationship didn't end up working out, it was a very long distance one[footnote]Im in England and she is in America, yes it was an online thing.[/footnote] because she's fairly awesome and we were pretty good together.

As of the twenty-ninth of July I turn twenty-five. Christ I'm not taking this well. People say that age is just a number but I can't just shake this being my quarter of a century birthday. I don't seem to have a direction in life. I've at least moved away from living with family, so I'm not a drain on them, but I haven't landed a job in a year. For two years I attended the University of Illinois on a disabled track scholarship, but by the end of the second year that deteriorated to the point that it stopped being even remotely fun or worth it. So any way, sorry for being emo and being a whiny ***** about this. To superficially add some discussion value: How did any one else deal with turning twenty five?

OT: Damn it captcha, I'm too drunk to accurately quote anything! And seriously, Norwegian cruise lines have food that tastes like shit.
I hear you. I'm not nearly that far into life but at this point I'm feeling what you are

I'm amazed at your coherent grammar which quite clearly means you're not drunk enough. Get back to work.
I'm on Miller Genuine Draft number eight and all I can say is thank god for googles spell check, if not this would be completely unreadable. Also I'm pretty OCD about grammar so I'll spend five minutes trying to figure out how to say something grammatically correct, despite inebriation.

if it makes you feel any better i had the same problem in march when i turn 25. Along with the feeling of holy fuck i been farting on this planet for a quarter century. I also had the creeping thoughts of:

I have a dead end job
I have done know of the things i thought i would be doing when i was 15
no kids
no house
no real career
no big travels

And then the big fml stick hit me and i smack it in the face with my cock and said. Screw it. i am only 25. i have about 60 more years to do shit so i might as well enjoy my life. And been fine ever since. Just keep your head up

Same boat you are. Hasn't civilization collapsed yet? I thought I'd be leading a horde of barbarian bikers by now. Instead just the same old workaday routine.

The only thing you loose as you get older is your looks.

I tend to hang with people many years younger than myself (in this case people who were late tees) and I've somteimes gotten asked the question "How did it feel to turn 25". My answer was simple:

"Think back on your life four years ago. The you back then was probably uglier (being young teens), less self confident, had less money and was by far less wise than you are today. When I turned twenty five all I had to do was to look back and realize that my life was far richer now and that I was far better as a person than I was five years ago. I have no sense of stigma what so ever as I grow older, since I know that almost only good things will come from it. I guess in time my good looks will wither away, but beyond that I see no reason to yearn for youth".

And that -said John- is that.

So anyway, It's six thirty Pacific coast time in the US, so I'm gonna say thank you to any one who responded; I do feel quite a bit better about myself and do appreciate the support despite me being whinny and emo for this topic. But I've got to get some sleep tonight.
