You bitches need to be made to suffer! You must go out there and bleed to death to keep the economy going! We demand new gadgets and knickknacks! I must have a fresh cup of coffee at my table every ten minutes! I demand a world of beaten servants to arbitrary masters! There is no alternative to this!

... Hey, buddy, I think you need some positive vibes, ok?

Why don't you come sit by me, have some Avocado Toast, chillax to some Tekashi69, and we can talk about how we hate Mortagages and Marriage because of the financial holes they create?

Also, my Jewish by birth, Atheist by Knowledge, Trans Fluid, Vegan-Peta Member, Nonsexual Life Partner is going to be by later to read his/hers/its new poetry about how Black People are Awesome. Doesn't that sound fun?

/s

Hey, Chillax is recognized by my dictionary. How the hell is that a thing?

You come across as someone blinded by partisanship, so I don't believe you.
I don't even live in the US. The reason you don't believe me is because you're the one who's blinded by partisanship (you're obviously a Trump loyalist), so you can't wrap your noodle around the idea that the GOP is evil. It is, it has been for at least 50 years.

You don't have to live in the US in order to irrationally hate a political party or government. Just look at all the people in the US who hate any kind of socialism or communism.

So the " Monthly Economic Crisis Support Act", which is what she was supporting and wanting done in June, didn't specify giving $2,000 to anyone making under $120,000 until three months after the pandemic ended? What part of that am I misinterpreting or misunderstanding? I fully admit that I had only read kind of the "highlights" to it so if I am misunderstanding what that bill she signed on for offers, feel free to correct me. I know this is The Internet so we're not "supposed" to change our opinions when new information is presented but I promise that I'll look at it (I'll still tell The Democrats to go sit and spin until they fully get behind Health Care Reform of course but at least on this issue, I'd let it go).
That bill is actually not too long: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/3784/text

Though, it is a bit unclear. It's $2000 per month tax rebate, reduced for individuals earning over $100,000 or $200,000 joint returns, to be refunded "as rapidly as possible". Do people who pay effectively 0 tax already get the full amount refunded? Does that happen all at once or every month? They appropriated $250,000,000, to fund rebates until it runs out. That's not going to do a whole lot, as if you divvy that up among only the unemployed, it's like $25. Not $25 a month, just $25.

But if me calling out Democrats for promising the moon when they're out of power and then conveniently forgetting/ignoring that promise once they actually have power makes me the bad guy, then sure, so be it. I'll need to work on my Mad Scientist Cackling Laugh though if I'm going to be the bad guy...
I'm not saying you're the bad guy, I just think you're missing the trees for the forest. Your big picture conception of what is going on, even if broadly accurate, is blinding you to the actual details.

And you don't have to swear or be outwardly racist to be a troll.
It does make it a lot more fun. Personally, I greatly enjoy swearing and being racist toward Germans. Normally I’m going for the British, but occasionally it is quite fun to attack an identity built on child abuse and sausages. Uh, another identity built on child abuse and sausages. The Germans do have sandals and khakis over the British though. A surprisingly healthier and more relaxed people, with less rampant alcoholism.

I'd be more willing to forgive it if it were just news stories picking it up. News Stories don't always tell the full story, they grab the sexy stuff (like $2,000 reoccurring a month) and remove the non-sexy stuff (like how it is paid out with the tax refund thingy you were talking about).

But Harris herself had also come out on Twitter and argued this

Just like the $2,000 checks per month became $1,400 months; the BEST case scenario is that they're just really bad at getting their message out there. The worst case scenario is that they just keep lying to us because it makes them sound good and they know it'll never pass while they're not in charge (and once they are in charge, they just won't bring it back up).

And you certainly could be right with the forest/trees thing. I've made it no secret that I think Democrats are just as bad, if not flat out worse than Republicans (at least Republicans tell you to Fuck Off to your face where Democrats smile at your face while they sharpen their knife for your back). Is it possible that my hatred for The Democrats is coloring and amplifying my hatred for this shit? Probably. But I just find it absolutely baffling that people expect politicians to lie like that to our faces so much that they don't even consider pushing back on it because "that's what politicians do".

EDIT: To make sure it's clear since I feel like I might have gone around in circles again here; my problem with Democrats isn't necessarily that they aren't passing better Stimulus Relief resolutions (I have no idea if $2,000 reoccurring checks is the best way forward, even if it's just straight 2G with no strings attached). It's that they tell us that they want to pass these kinds of resolutions when they are not in power and then once they get in power, they blow it off and don't even attempt to pass anywhere near how they said it "should" be when they weren't in power. Talk is cheap Democrats; you can't keep talking about how much help you'll give everyone once you're in power and then not even attempt to push for what you said you thought Republicans should be doing. Stand by your statements or stop making them.

Yeah, being outside a country means nationalistic jingoism doesn't work on you. It's way easier to see Xi, Johnson, Putin or Trump aren't great because all their words aren't selling to me, they're selling to someone else.

I mean, you're right generally. And if you look at that tweet, she said "up to $2000", which like any other sales pitch means "not $2000 but we're putting that number in your head anyway." Which is pretty much exactly the dishonesty you're upset about. But like, a salesperson being misleading doesn't necessarily mean you got a bad deal in the end.

She phrased it the correct way.

"Up to $2000" is appropriate, because she does not have the power to guarantee it will be $2000: and we all know it's only going to be turned back on her anyway if she promises $2000 and it turns out less. Thus to put it in a way that implies "We want $2000, but we might not get that much" seems to me the reality of the situation.

It wasn't "we want $2000 but we might not get that much", it was "we wrote a bill where some people would get a maximum of $2000 and others wouldn't". And then fast forward to current times, they scrapped that whole initiative and decided to continue distributing relief through the established methods of unemployment and stimulus checks. Which I personally think is better than reinventing the wheel, although I do wish they would stop giving me stimulus checks.

You have to know, if I'm defending Democratic politicians, you're probably off base.
All this says is that you think defending a particular kind of politics against another kind of politics is more important than discrediting a particular party. It doesn't say anything about truth or falsehood.

Anyway, Democrats should care about bipartisanship because it will allow them to do less and lose in 2 years while the media gives them praise.

Is this supposed to be a bad thing?

It means that the rarity of your coming to the defense of a Democratic politician has no relation whatsoever to your credibility when doing so; there is no particular reason based on the fact that you are defending a Democrat to think that what you are arguing against is "off-base".

I guess if you're OK with politicians being sleazy fucks that will mislead and straight up lie to get votes and then leave everyone hanging out to dry, that's your choice. The assholes are arguing about how little help they can give us while everything burns around us because they're petrified they're not going to be able to their water fountains.

Even right fucking now, Joe Biden and The Democrats (towards the bottom of the news article linked) who are in complete control of everything and promised $2,000 checks out the door immediately are arguing over who "deserves" the next $1,400 checks as they try to find every possible way to means-test it. These assholes have already gone back on a couple of campaign promises with these checks and are STILL trying to find ways to negotiate themselves down even further. Because God fucking forbid that one person gets some extra money they don't need, even if ten other people who DO need the checks get cut out of it because of the means-test. By GOD we're going to make sure that the one guy who doesn't need it doesn't get it and the other ten can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps or something.

To full circle this entire thread, why do The Democrats now all of a sudden care about partisanship? Because they need the excuse to do as little as possible to help people because Republicans and Democrats and really politicians in general have the same mantra; how little can I do to make sure I get to stay in power and make myself and all my rich buddies just a LITTLE bit richer...

The Qanon freak getting a standing ovation from the Republicans rather than an immediate termination would also be why you Americans can't just get along.
