His reviews? I don't use them as a guide at any time.

I watch them because, uh, actually, I don't know any more. We usually disagree on the movies, and there's not much he'll say that I won't already know.

But whatever, it kills 5 minutes. That's probably why I watch them.
That's a perfect description of my stance on MovieBob's reviews.

Though I will add that I stopped taking him seriously as a critic after his tasteless whining over how The Expendables overtook Scott Pilgrim vs the World; not because of the sales numbers, but because he attacked the audience, instead of the movie.

I watch them after seeing the film to see whether he likes them. Movies critics are always either idiots who are wrong about everything or they're right about everything. Bob is a weird mix of both.
You're the kind of person who makes critics life hard. No critic is right about everything and no critic can be (statistically) wrong about everything. Nor do they want you to think about them that way.

I think reviews are helpful both ways. If you haven't seen the movie, you'll have an idea of what you might encounter. If you already have, get someone else's point of view. You can watch them any way.

You know, I like Moviebob's reviews. He doesn't always feel the need to say "IMHO" or remind people that he's making a generalization to sound nicer. If he has a thought about something, he says it.

Tom Charity is almost always wrong. The average customer rating is often the opposite of his, and mine always is, but for some reason they still keep him around.

I don't know who he is, but are you sure that he just doesn't have a very specific opinion?(Or I could be wrong. Maybe he's an Armand White. Likes to be on the contrary to everyone)

Usually before. I've never heard a critic say a movie was so bad in such a way as to avoid it myself, but have had my mind switched the other way several times.

I watch Moviebob every week the same way I watch Zero Punctuation, usually just because I like the material. I don't generally base my viewing decisions off his points, but occassionally his hate of a movie has saved me from dissapointment (Green Lantern, I almost paid real money to see that terrible movie) and occassionally he introduces me to movies I wouldn't have considered otherwise, like The Grey.

So in short, I generally watch his reviews prior to going to the theatre, but rarely change my plans on his recomendations
