I go for some of the easy/medium difficulty trophies/achievements. Such as collecting all the Blast Shards in InFamous. For the crazy ones, like finishing God of War in less than 5 hours (I found this to be pretty difficult, my fastest playthrough was about 8 hours), I don't really care about.

It's a cool system though, and gives a bit more life to the game.

I loathe the multiplayer/on-line only achievements, but the ones that are legitimate challenges I enjoy.

I already know I waste a lot of time playing games instead of doing something productive; I don't need to prove it to other people with achievements.

Achievements don't really mean much to me, but they have driven me to put some extra time into a game for the hell of it. I spent extra time playing Borderlands just to get my first platinum trophy because it was easy to get.

I love them... if they are well thought out and if they are single player.

It gives replay value and in some cases like Mass Effect there were in game rewards for doing it.

I have rules about achievements though.
1. I never play a game just because they have easy achievements.
2. I never avoid a game because the achievements are so hard that I will never score any significant amount.
3. I only really care about single player ones because multiplayer ones require not only skill, but lots of luck as well. Also, they ruin online gaming. The perfect example of this is Gears of War. The stupid achievements for getting 100 kills with each weapon meant that a lot of idiots were running around with chainsaws in the first couple of months online.

It's largely dependant on the outcome. If it's just for the "bling" instant gratification of it, then I won't go out of my way to get it [sub]unless it's particularly funny or in a situation I wouldn't have thought to do[/sub]

However on the flip side if it was for something useful, for example Team Fortress 2's achievements for new weapons then i'd go for them.

I like them right now I am working towards "Insanity" and "No One Left Behind" in mass effect 2. They are farely difficult but do-able.

It really depends on the game for me. When it comes to games like Uncharted, where the trophies are all earned in single player and are completely reasonable, then I will definitely make an effort to get them to extend my playtime. However, games like Gears of War 2 where I have to kill 100,000 enemies and play 1999 matches online, I pass(reaching lvl 100 is also pretty ridiculous). I guess it really depends on what I see on the list of achievements before I begin as to whether I will try or not.

I'm not crazy about getting them, but I think they're fun little challenges that I like to at least try (depending on the game).

As mlong as theres something to earnign them.
Like in MW2 where you get xp and unlocks for doing it. IF it just says gratz, and nothing more i couldn't care less.

I play through once and stick to the story, then I go through again to get every trophy I can. I think trophies/achievables are good, they help prove to people that you have done some of the harder things on the game.

They don't bother me per-say, but they do break immersion. I wish developers would a) make more effort to include them in the style of the game rather than having them pop up in that same immersion breaking box in the corner or b) leave it until you pause or leave the game to inform you of the achieve them.

Oh, and I HATE multi-player trophies / achievements.

I think there should have been a third option. 1 for people with an avid and unwavering desire to pursue achievements to increase gamerscore, 2 for those that collect them just because they like the challenge, 3 for those that just don't care at all

Badges, trophies, achievements....

What happened to the good old days when you just played until you dropped on the arcades, just to get the number one position on the top score list.
