I'll usually go for physical. However, since Steam have been doing so many good deals recently, I've been going for digital downloads much more in the past few months...

Digital Copy if it's done like Steam or XBL where it can be easily traced back to you and is locked to you. I purchased about 32 titles during the Steam Holiday sale and the thought of having ALL those boxes and discs and in some cases instruction manuals is beyond daunting. Now I can just leave them there, and I can install them on whatever computers of mine I want. Hell I haven't even installed half of the games I purchased, but at least I don't have to worry about keeping track of all of them physically..

Physical for me, but it really does depend on the game

for instance a large game like Borderlands i would keep a physical copy of were-as i would like a digital copy of smaller games such as World of Goo.

I'm surprised there isn't an option: Both

I'd like to be able to buy the game on discs. But I also want to be able to download it, if I go on vacation or can't find the discs. This is especialy true for mor multi-language games, since I'm not living in the country of my mother language.

I like physical copies. That's the one reason why I won't pirate; It's just more personal.

Score another mark for physical.

While I know steam and whatnot allow you to download the games you're purchased over and over, I don't like the idea of having to DL gigs and gigs of data evertime I upgrade or have to reformat. With smaller games, I don't mind it much but I'm sure I'll be annoying if I ever wind up with a stack of them on steam.

I prefer physical copies. I can always make more space in a room/building for another game, I can't conjure up extra hard-drive space.

Its got to be a physical copy. Digital copys often still cost more than the physical copy dispite costing nothing for the company to reproduce. XBLA sells full copy Xbox games digitally but they cost £20 each?! I can get any of them pre-owned for at least half the price and I dont need to worry about microsoft shutting down the service and stopping me getting it back if I lose my Hard-drive data

Is always nice to know you can play your games even if the world went into an appocolypse, the internet shut down and the only computer you could use was the one you looted from your local electronic store. Keeps me warm at night knowing I could still play my games

*Edit: Also I cant afford new games every month, I have to sell old ones to get the new ones. Also I can trade with friends. Way more games get played through hard copies

Physical for me. I like having something for the shelf, but it also takes a hell of a lot less time to install (with the connection I'm on anyways).

Physical copy for me. I love having shelves full of CDs, DVDs, and games to show off. I want people to say, "Wow, you have a lot of [insert appropriate disc-based noun here]!"

Physical only. What's the fun of having a massive collection of something when there is no physical proof of it. Besides, A wall of games is always more impressive then a list of titles on your computer.

Physical.

I'm the same with print media vs. digital books. I prefer to have the physical artifact.

digital, only boxed games i have is for my consoles, if only PSN and XBLA would start selling new full title games.
They do, you can buy Mass effect, gears of war, and other games off of Xbox Live.

Despite digital distribution, I'm strictly physical-copy-only with consoles. PC games are another story. I don't mind having stacks of game boxes in my closet. Hell I still have my pile of Genesis carts somewhere in there.

As far as PC gaming goes... well with over 2TB of space digital copies not are a problem, however I try to at least make the effort to back some games up on a disk just in case. Yes, this is possible with Steam downloads.

If digital copy = gotten from Steam with ONLY Steam protection, then yeah sure, why not.
If digital copy = the Xbox version where they pop out the game as a digital download AGES after it has been released for more money than it costs to go out to the store and find a second-hand copy, then no, I'll take my physical copy, thank you.

And certain really awesome games I want physical, too. Like StarCraft 2, or collectors editions...

I like my games in physical format, unless it's something that's primarily MEANT to be downloadable (ex-Braid).

That said, I have no problem with downloading full games on the PC (ex- using Steam) but downloading full games on the consoles seems a little silly. Gamers don't just play games, they also collect them, and a digital collection is nothing to be proud of.
