I really liked it for the few days I was playing it, but then my brother, for whom I have an incredibly strong disliking towards, found it after seeing me play it, my parents bought it for him when I had to pay myself, and now it's all he talks about ever, which has really turned me off the game.

It just shows, everyone who plays it is amazed. Thus it must be good, or it just really appeals to the same people who want to play it (most everyone).

no, enemies don't appear day, night, or in dungeons. The only thing you have to worry about are slimes, but only big ones.

Slimes are non hostile creatures which spawn on peaceful mode, but due to a bug, rarely big ones spawn (the ones that can hurt you).

Don't worry slimes are REALLY rare to encounter, I have been playing for a while with other people and as far as I know no one has encountered slimes yet.
Thanks, that is really good news. Now, back to Minecraft. I find that even though I played for almost an hour today and it crashed, I still want to get back an play it. If that happened in any other game, I would have been mad and not played for a week.

The crash happened when I was playing it in normal screen, and then I realized that I could make it full screen.

I want to. I watched almost all the X videos that Justin guy did on youtube. Looks kinda fun, and I'm always looking for a timesink for when I'm not playing real games.

Sorry, I just just returned from under my rock on Mars but what I ask is Minecraft and what is its purpose?

Just watch SeaNanners videos on youtube and you will learn a great deal, and he is funny.

It is a mining, crafting, exploring, and survival game.

Call me crazy, but I like structure in my games. Open worlds are fun, but I need someone telling me what to do next or else I just get bored. I guess I've never been good with building stuff from scratch, but more power to those of you who are.

I really don't see the point of the game. No story. Just a randomly generated world where you can build things. Whoop.

I think it appeals to people that like to make their own story and explore without anybody pulling them back and saying, hey you have to go do this. It is for the creative and free spirits I guess.

From what I've gathered, Minecraft is a complex, difficult, buggy, but rewarding game when you invest enough time into it. The thing is, I already have a game for that. It's Dwarf Fortress, and it beats the crap out of everything I've heard about Minecraft. Before I can really be interested in Minecraft it would need its own Boatmurdered.

It looks interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll actually have the time to actually do anything with it.

I've been looking up stuff about Minecraft all evening. This definitely looks like something I want to try. The last PC construction game I played was Lego: Creator, and that's been some time ago. I'll probably pick this up in a few days, after I get paid.

Quick question: how viable is this to play offline, single player? I don't have access to normal internet where I live. I can log in and authenticate sure, but constant online play is not possible due to finite bandwidth. And how easy is it to pay with US Dollars? I have a debit card and I think I've used PayPal a few times in the past.

It's even more fun to play offline, specially while on skype with a friend or listening to music.

I've watched my little brother play it, but I never really said to myself, "That looks great, let's give it a shot." I tend to play other games too often to be play something like that. Usually Dragon Age or something to that degree.

I have played it, I didn't like it. The effort/gratification ratio is too low for me, I have too much stuff going on to do anything but maximize my gaming time.

As of right now I only play the free version. I discovered it last month, and even though it doesn't cost much with the line up of games for the rest of the tear I cant pay for it. But from what I have played the free version is pretty cool.

I'd like to, but 15 bucks seems pricey, I'd like a demo of the survival mode not the useless multiplayer.

I love it, I'm just afraid that one day he'll release an update that requires new save files. I mean, I love my city too much
