no, enemies don't appear day, night, or in dungeons. The only thing you have to worry about are slimes, but only big ones.

Slimes are non hostile creatures which spawn on peaceful mode, but due to a bug, rarely big ones spawn (the ones that can hurt you).

Don't worry slimes are REALLY rare to encounter, I have been playing for a while with other people and as far as I know no one has encountered slimes yet.
Thanks, that is really good news. Now, back to Minecraft. I find that even though I played for almost an hour today and it crashed, I still want to get back an play it. If that happened in any other game, I would have been mad and not played for a week.

The crash happened when I was playing it in normal screen, and then I realized that I could make it full screen.
To make it not crash as often, go to the options screen, and set the render distance/fog to normal. So less information is being processed at once. Also you can press the [F] key to adjust this as well.

I rage quit after 1 day.

When a game penalizes you for screwing you over, it's not worth my time.

Strike #1: Mining happily, several Diamond, 3 stacks of Redstone and various other ore, all lost when bumped into a lava pit.

Strike #2: Same thing.

Strike #3: When the game crashes (which it seems to frequently) it saves everything related to your character, but nothing related to the world.

E.G. I used all my remaining resources to craft enough tools to drive a new mine shaft. 100 meters into the new shaft the game crashed. Upon reentering the game, the shaft had been filled in and my character was stuck in stone and was promptly killed with no way to retrieve my last remaining items.

NO, BAD GAME.
Well it's still in alpha for f*cks sake or course it's going to crash and I have experienced everything you have yet I dont start crying and say I hate it, I just got over it.

Chill Winston.

It wasn't 1 specific thing that put me off, but a combination. Pros aren't worth the cons.

you're probably using the "far" setting. Don't use it it crashes the game. Use normal or lower. If you have to use "far" save a lot in between mining.

Also sorry for the double post >.<
Really? wow this is the first truly helpful post that may get me back into it. Thankyou.

Yeah check it out at least. That's what happened to me and I had to search through google for ages looking for an answer to my problems.

I find it never crashes for me when I do that now.
