Interesting idea, I guess alot of people will answer pretty much the same but it is nice to look at a demographic and the variation within that sometimes.

1) 15 Years old, Male, British.

2) I'm a musician and a scientist. I play games too, but rarely despite my thousands of pounds worth of equipment.

3) A Brony is a male viewer of the show, usually outside of it's target demographic of young children.

4) I first heard about the show on here, The Escapist. Mainly built of curiosity from the huge number of MLP avatars.

5) I love the show for it's innocence, humour and unrelenting ability to put a big, stupid smile on my face :)

6)No. I would never try to force my love of the show on anybody, beyond saying that I really like it. This alone has lead to most of my friends joining me in Bronydom though :)

7) I hear a lot about us being furries. I'm not, but, you know... to each his own I guess. I suppose it's a justified assumption to make, though, since they are animals with human traits, even if they aren't quite anthro.

8)I love the Brony community. Compared to other fanbases, (to me at least) the Bronies have only ever treated me in the manner their motto suggests: Love and tolerate.

9)Friendliness. I always feel not only welcome, but wanted in the MLP fanbase.

10)4. I don't own any toys, but I have seen all the episodes a couple times, and I own a tshirt with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on it. This is nothing special for me though, as I express my love for everything through the medium of shirts.
---------------------------------------
It was a pleasure to take your questionnaire, and I wish you good luck with whatever endeavour prompted you to make it. Adios!

1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?

20, Male, Swedish

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?

Hmm, I guess the gamer culture maybe? None other really.

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?

Liking My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but also the willingness to accept the term "brony". If someone doesn't want a label then don't give them one.

4) How did you first hear about the show?

Probably through one of the trailers like 'The Elder Scrolls: Equestria' or 'Ponycraft 2'. Though I first really considered watching it after seeing the article about it on Know Your Meme.

5) Why do you like the show?

It's hard to pinpoint exactly why I like the show. I'm guessing it's a combination of the writing, which is excellent, the art style and the likeable characters. Though as I said it's hard to pinpoint an exact reason.

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or "convert them" to bronyism?

I tell people that I like the show and that if they feel up to it they should give it a try. Though if they don't want to or genuinely don't like the show then that's fine.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?

I've heard some pretty ridiculous claims like that we quit our jobs and become manchildren just so we can watch the show. Laughable. We're not any different from anyone else.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?

Yes, I do. The general optimism and the positive air that surrounds the brony community is refreshing and a welcome break from the cynicism you usually see around the internet. There's also a great many talented bronies out there creating endless high-quality content. It's just awesome.

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?

I'd like to say Love and Tolerance, but that'd just sound pretentious. Maintaining a positive air and not being overly and needlessly critical is pretty important though.

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.

I'd say like 4. I don't go to conventions or stuff like that, but pretty much my whole computer is ponyfied, my chrome-theme is Rainbow Dash, I visit Equestria Daily [http://www.equestriadaily.com/] (biggest fansite out there) several times a day, and I've watched the whole series multiple times with both my little brother (16) and one of my closest friends (also 20), effectively making them fans of the show. I think I'm a pretty big fan at this point.

1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?
24, male and British

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?
Anime

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?
Someone who loved MLP:FiM and is not a kid.

4) How did you first hear about the show?
Someone made a thread on "Who is your favourite pony" on here back in Feburary or March.

5) Why do you like the show?
The overall presentation (animation, characters, humour and not being tone down for the children audiences).

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or "convert them" to bronyism?
Well I have told my two closest friends about the shows but they couldn't get into it. I did try persuade them again but I stop after that. I don't want to force it onto them and just accept they not into it and leave it to themselves if want to check it out again for any reasons.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?
Sure I can't speak for everyone but I don't think someone would be that stupid and creepy to act like that in a shop that sell the toys. We know that the toys are for girl so we have our standards.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?
Yes because I get to talk about the show (I mention in 6 that my friends in real life are not into it).

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?
Lived up to the shows theme and moral- Love and Tolerance.

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.
3-Sure I listen to fanmade music and look at fanarts but I don't get too deep with the community. I had only read one or two fanfic and I don't believe in shipping. I also don't get too caught up with the community version of the ponies like e.g. some people were upset with the real Luna in episode 4 of season 2 since they all had different "views" on her (different version of her made from fanfic and etc) before that episode was aired.

2. Gaming, anime, books I guess.

3.If they watch and enjoy the show.

4. My boyfriend. His constant singing of 'Winter Wrap Up' is what made me watch it in the end.

5. The animation is good, the characters are engaging, the storylines are fun and it's cute and makes me laugh. Plus it has very catchy songs.

6. I sometimes try and get my other friends to watch it. Hasn't really worked so far though.

7. That we're all furry loving pedophiles. I'm pretty damn sure they are lies.

8. I do. The people are friendly and are all about spreading love and tolerance. What's not to like? Apart from the ones who take it too far that is.

9. Love, tolerance and cupcakes.

10. I'd say I'm about a 3, maybe 4. I really enjoy the show, tend to look at lots of fanart and listen to the songs often.

Also, I find it hilarious that only 2 females have answered (me included).

1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?
15, Male, Canadian

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?
The whole geek/nerd thing I spose.

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?
Someone who likes the show to the degree they consider themselves a brony.

4) How did you first hear about the show?
These forums.

5) Why do you like the show?
It's well made, and has an innocence to it that I like having somewhere in my life.

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or "convert them" to bronyism?
A few people I know IRL, and I'll admit I've been too forceful with it.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?
That we're all overboard with how much we like the show. That we're religiously forceful with our love of the show. They are somewhat based on truth, but not everyone who likes the show is a super fan, and not everyone will attack you for disliking it, same as any other fandom, only it's more noticeable because of the subject.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?
Yes, the community is one of the reasons I still hold interest in the show. I like it because of the talent and activeness. You can find some very well done music, writing, and art done by the fans. Also, the general friendliness.

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?
Liking the show, first and foremost.

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.
I'd say a 4. I check brony websites multiple times a day, and discuss it with fellow brony friends, but I've seen some people who have done some crazy things, and I don't contribute much of anything like others.

Good luck with your surveys!

1)18, male, White British (English)

2)Gamer

3)Someone who loves MLP FiM or the community thereof.

4)A friend recommended it.

5)Good animation, deep characters, well written, and Fluttershy faces off with a dragon. And a cockatrice. Did I mention the dragon?

6)I encourage people to try it.

7)Creepy. As an internet culture most of it is true for someone, somewhere. Mostly runs along the lines of 'insecure man-children who enjoy cross-species sexual activities and pedophilia'. Based on ignorance and stupidity.

8)YESYESYESYESYESYES! So much creativity and talent, and the source of the only piece of literature ever to make me cry. Sooooo Awesome!

9)Love and Tolerance.

10)4: If I was good enough at any of it I'd be making art/music/stories. I check Equestria Daily thrice daily, almost every youtube recommended video is pony, 5 different letters of my keyboard when put into my search-bar auto-complete to pony sites. I've seen every one of the 20,000 images on KYM and a fair few more on ponibooru. I follow multiple fanfictions at a time. My desktop background is pony. Before that it was pony. Before that it was pony.

11) Who is best pony?
Fluttershy is best pony.

1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?
19, female, US

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?
I suppose I am a bit of a gamer considering, but I don't really identify as such. Fine art, I suppose?

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?
When they identify as such, typically. There's always a few who are in denial, but read fanfiction, obsess over characters whom I would categorize in my mind as such, regardless of personal designation.

4) How did you first hear about the show?
One person mentioned it in the Escapist IRC, someone else responded. The fact that the comment I would expect to be a topic of furry fandom elicited a response from someone who was not a furry begat a third person asking for clarification on the matter.

5) Why do you like the show?
I love children, and someday would like to illustrate children's' books. This makes me quite open to good children's media, and I appreciate the fact that Friendship is Magic can be an entertaining, family-friendly, (as opposed to being a "show for children") visually appealing and all while not having to resort to the bizarre, uncomfortable, or to pop culture references. This may seem like a strange comment, but Friendship is Magic is consistent in all the places you'd want it to be.

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or "convert them" to bronyism?
No, I find that silly.
However, I despise when people ignorantly dismiss something respectable on principal. That, and when hypocrites liken FIM fans to "sheep" whilst themselves only demonstrate dislike of the show on the grounds of its popularity.

But I've always been this way- I recall a time in First grade, in which I became extremely angry and disturbed by my classmates merrily singing songs about dismembering Barney the Dinosaur. I couldn't fathom why these children would praise the death of a character who taught kindness and friendship to children.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?
The ones people imply about male fans' masculinity? Or more to the point, in how they are lacking of it?
Nonsense, and blatantly so. One would have to actively be seeking reason to hold malicious feelings towards the bronies. In fact, I wish they would soften up a bit more with My Little Pony- they take it as far as they would any of their interests, (Game mods, audio remixes, etc) rather than just relaxing and enjoying the show.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?
Generally, I am indifferent to them, but in comparison to the rest of the nerd cultures out there, they're wonderful.
They're just such a friendly, happy fanbase, and that's so hard to find in any group of people.

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?
Hrm... I'd have to go with the aforementioned friendliness, and taking what the show has to heart. Without being nice, what do you have left with a brony other than a guy alone, watching cartoons by themselves?

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.
I'd say a one. I really don't do the whole "fandom" thing. I don't feel a need for merchandaise, don't fantasize about characters, show little loyalty towards media and have never been interested in reading fan fiction of any sort except for the hilariously bad, such as Full-Life Consequences.
My Little Pony is nice and I'll tune in to watch it, but only if its convenient at the time. The fact that FIM ponies are criminally easy to draw makes them for a non-offensive doodle on lecture not margins makes pony art an occasionally visited idea, but never beyond sketch phase.

And Pokemon, despite its nostalgia value, manages a 2 because I'll admit to liking my tiny gashapon Heatran.

1) I'm 18, male, and American

2) I'm mostly a nerd, but can fit in with most groups

3) Just loving the show can define someone as a brony

4) I first learned about the show when I saw an image of Guile throwing Rainbow Dash into someone (sonic rainboom) The amazing art style of the show made me curious about it and I started watching the show after that

5) It has great animation, a solid story, a good sense of humor, life like characters, and most importantly just makes you feel happy

6) I'm pretty casual about suggesting it to my friends, but ya a little

7) To be honest I haven't heard that much hate about bronies. The most stereotypes I hear are that bronies are furries and gay, but everyone that says that probably hasn't even watched a single episode or are just trolls

8) I think it's one of the best communities bested around a tv show ever. The brony community is creative, giving entire backstories to characters that say only one line to being, nice, personifying all the characteristics of the show, and just funny

9) I think all the elements of harmony meaning, friendship, kindness, loyalty, laughter, honesty, and generosity (also love and tolerance)

10) I say around 5 since I'm now starting to really dive into the brony culture

1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?
21 male from Canada

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?
Part hipster but mostly nerd.

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?
Someone that enjoys the 4th generation of My Little Pony.

4) How did you first hear about the show?
Back in May from this site actually, when threads were popping up annually, someone was talking about Celestia and I have a weak spot for Physical gods in stories. I had to check it out.

5) Why do you like the show?
The quality of the show is probably the most surprising, I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I watched it but I'm glad I did. The jokes that are great along with good delivery and timing. It also makes good contrast to all the seriousness that suffocates entertainment right now. The show knows exactly what it is and doesn't deny it.

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or "convert them" to bronyism?
Yes and no, I don't force but I do answer questions when asked, usually pointing them in a direction to watch it. I think anyone that forces ponies down peoples throat should be punched.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?
Some think we wank to furries or we are pedos, people don't seem to realize that people themselves are different and can't group us under one name, the name "Brony" is for convenience, not a label.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?
I love the community or most of it. The amount of content that is made of high quality is staggering. I have been to a few meet-ups as well and have been nothing but a blast.

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?
There is the meme but I won't say it, we are very accepting and open minded. We try to take the mood we get from the show and try to share it with others.

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.
I would say 4, I bathe in content but never produced anything myself.

Just to let you know, the fact that you are doing this on The Escapist of going to cause a HUGE selection bias. You're really looking at Gamer bronies, along with a bunch of other factors. Just keep that in mind when you start presenting that all bronies are video gamers and the like. Maybe Equestria Daily would be a better place?

Questionnaire:
1) What age, gender, and nationality are you? 27, Male, American

2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with? Gamer, I suppose, is the only interest I have that would count as a culture or subculture. Thats Gamer speaking broadly, Card Games, Board Games, RPGs and the like.

3) What do you think defines someone as a brony? Watching the show and enjoying it enough to want to be considered part of a group that identifies itself as a group that likes the show.

4) How did you first hear about the show? Escapist. I saw a bunch of Pony avatars start cropping of, and threads about the new MLP, saw a link to the first episode on Youtube, I watched it and the rest was history.

5) Why do you like the show? While retaining a focus on being compelling for little girls, it manages to treat those girls with enough respect for their intelligence that it manages to be appealing to adults as well. The creators are also in top form, being skilled animators, designers, writers, and voice actors. While many shows for kids phone it in, MLP care for its creation, and it shows.

6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or ?convert them? to bronyism? Semi-actively. If a person seems to appreciate animation or, "Cuteness". Ill mention it to them, say that it is really good, relate my story of going from a skeptic to a brony, and find a link to an episode. But I don't try to hammer it home.

7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies? Some people think that Bronys are just man-children, but that is usually just trolling. Some people complain that Bronies are too obsessed with there interests, but that is true of any interest. I genuinely think that the state of discourse of bronies, politeness and courtesy on the internet, is significantly higher then other demographics. Obviously there are exceptions, i'm speaking in the broad sense here.

8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not? I think its a little nicer then average, and the content is usually a breath of fresh air. Also, the fan contributions can be of amazing quality. Seeing such an unusual interest being expressed is a treat, so yes, I like the Brony community. I like it enough that I admit to enjoying more interjections from the bronies as off topic tangents then is strictly fair.

9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture? That the lesson of the show be reflected by the adults. Embracing your inner child, appreciating cute and whimsicle, and trying to behave towards each other with the simple lessons of the show learned. Yes, there may be a more mature twist and a sense of tounge planted firmly in cheek, but the Brony community needs to try to, every once in a while, cut through the cynicism of age and get back to the kindergarten lessons of being nice. It's important to have a vehicle that makes, "Love and tolerate" seem like a positive and active force, not a childhood cliche filthy with cynicism.

10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.[/quote] 4, I suppose. I really, really love watching the show, and remember the cuteness and humor long after the episode ends, and I discuss the show with a few friends and occasionally on The Escapist, but I don't exactly contribute.

1.) 16, male, and American.
2.) Kind of hard to say because I belong to a lot of subcultures. Otaku, animation fan in general, gamer, and a movie geek. There's more but that is what I am primarily.
3.) If you like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic you're a brony.
4.) I first learned of it when it became a meme on the internet. Then, one day I decided to see what the fuss was about and watched the first few episodes. I found myself really liking the show and so here I am a brony.
5.) I like the show because it is really well written and is backed up by extremely good voice acting. It is easily one of the few good cartoons I've seen in recent years. (others would include Adventure Time and Phineas and Ferb
6.) On the internet where I am anonymous, but in real life no.
7.) One stereotype seems to be that bronies are all furries and are sexually attracted to the characters. That is untrue, atleast for the most part. (stupid rule 34)
8.) I like the brony community. They're really funny and are the reason why I wasn't so ashamed of liking the show.
9.) I don't know, maybe our sense of humor. It's kinda hard to say.
10.) I'd say a 4.
