There are a few things in MOD two that to me make absolutely no sense. So I'll list them all on this wonderful forum and hope somewhere out there there is an answer to my question.

If you haven't played the game, I'm going to have to issue a minor spoiler warning.

Okay lets do this.

-Why does Price fire a nuke at USA?
-Why does Shepard betray the TF 141?
-Why does Makarov want to start a war between Russia and America?
-How does Russia manage to invade Washington DC,and why do they even bother invading the suburbs?
-How is the nuclear blast able to knock out electronics in DC, yet still be high enough to be seen from space and kill the astronaut?

First. You're questioning the holes in a plot of an FPS? Second, nobody cared about the campaign except as a means to unlock special ops.

But as you ask, 1.) The electromagnetic pulse, EMP, knocked out the vast majority of Russian superiority on the eastern seaboard, because America is on the home turf, they're in a better position to deal with it.

2.) Cover up.

3.) Not really mentioned, except that he hates America with a passion. Possibly profits as a gun runner.

4.) A major problem, actually. It makes no sense how any military would be able to catch America with her pants down THAT bad, considering the military bases strewn over the area. Yes, Pearl Harbor was a surprise, but that wasn't heartland area.

5.) It's not a normal nuke per se. It's an electromagnetic pulse attack, or EMP. An EMP is designed to detonate in sub orbit so the explosion is mostly wasted, but the resulting electromagnetic pulse will fry all circuitry in a large radius. Placing the EMP to explode on the ground would lessen the radius, so sub-orbital detonation is much more preferrable.

If a nuke detonates high in space, the EMP wave will knock out electronics over a large area. The real question should be, how the hell was there a shockwave in space? As for the other questions, the plot is shit-crazy. It's best not to think about it.

I think we can let that one go as just being an effect. Having the station shut down undramatically would have been realistic, but boring.

-Because Russia's biggest advantage was that they had all this high tech kit scrambled, whereas the US didn't have any ready. Knock out all tech and US homefield advantage kicks in.

-A few reasons that have to be taken together. He's pissed about losing men in a nuke attack earlier, the nuke for which was provided by Russia. He urged to go to war then, but the higher-ups in the military didn't want to, hence the SecDef giving him a "blank check" when he was "proven right". He did it partially to gain that power, that blank check, and partially out of genuine fury at Russia

-He was friend's with Zakhaev

-Remember that ACS module you recovered towards the beginning? It contained all the protocols for the US satelites. If they had it for a long period of time, they could have the satellites report whatever they wanted. You stole it back, but either they copied it first or, more likely, Shepard handed it straight back to them. As for why they invaded the suburbs, keep in mind it was just outside DC and there was clearly already a military presence there. Anywhere with a military presence had to be one of their priority targets.

-You said you didn't need this explained, so I'll let it be.

That's really not a valid reason.
Try telling that to Infinity Ward

That still doesn't explain why he trys to kill the TF 141. They would help him destroy Russia.

The emp travels at the speed of light (i think) and with there not being much in the way of the pulse and the surface it could easily reach that far down

I thought the nuclear blast wouldn't have any way to touch the ISS anyway, because the radiation needs air to travel through?
