So bioshock (1 and 2) and New Vegas are on sale on Steam for £3.49 and £3.74 respectively. I promised myself I would only buy one more game in the steam sales, and although I might end up buying both, I really can't decide which one I want more. Also, Bioshock 1 or Bioshock 2? Which is better for a newcomer?

Extra Info: I am a fan of interesting stories, and simple to learn hard to master gameplay. I have never played a fallout of bioshock game before, but thought they both looked interesting and considered getting them.

Keep in mind value for money as well as being a good game. I am on a tight budget.

Finally, I only have 2 hours to make the deciscion.

DUN DUN DUUUN!

For discussion value after that: which is the better game series, fallout of bioshock?

EDIT: I have pretty much been convinced by posters here to get Fallout NV, so unless you are a hardcore bioshock fan, or want to debate the 'discussion value' question I put, you can just let this thread sink into obscurity.
I have another thread I made today about Nintendo, go look at that instead :p

if you want a 50-60 hour RPG with FPS elements, go with fallout, but if you want a 10-20 hour FPS with RPG elements, go with bioshock 1. i personally didn't like bio2 but i liked the 1st one. i have fallout NV and i have put in about 30 hours and im not even 50% done with it. but bio1 was a pretty good game too. i have to recommend fallout purely because i'll give you more bang for your buck.

To me Fallout is the better choice, you will enjoy more time out of it. Bio shock is a fun game and worth the play through but after you beat it, there isn't any reason to go back. Fallout however, your not going to experience everything the game has to offer in one play through, especially when you get to New Vegas. Bioshock has stronger shooting mechanics but New Vegas offers so much more so I would go with that.

Fallout: New Vegas. It is much longer and it is an overall better game (in my opinion). And it has a ton of replay value.

Throw in another vote for NV, it's a fun game and there's tons of playstyles (I had a friend of mine go explosives+sneak+speech) I personally like my badass with an assault rifle, a minigun, a sniper rifle, and a grenade machine gun.

I was completely disappointed by the end of new vegas and sold it after beating it just once. HOWEVER from what i have heard bioshock has little to no replayability and for that i say grab new vegas only because its a much much longer game and i will admit i had fun while it lasted.

I think BioShock might be worth buying just because I'm very interested in BioShock Infinite and while I think it's a mostly different story, I'm sure it will tie in somehow and I'd like to appreciate that more by having played the other games. However, that's a more eccentric desire and you're on a budget, so assuming you right now aren't concerned with catching up with a series to prepare for its new release, I'd go with Fallout. BioShock's good, though I didn't personally beat it. I'm pretty sure it glitched on me because the event described in a walkthrough I read to figure out why I was stuck didn't seem to be triggering. I haven't tried playing through again since.

They are two very different games, it all boils down to what you prefer. Since you are on a tight budget, I'd go with New Vegas. It can be a massive time sink and an epic adventure if you enjoy the western rpg genre. Still, Bioshock has a very interesting story, although the game is somewhat linear. Both titles are great but I would get New Vegas for maximum entertainment.

I say if you can, get the original Fallout and Fallout 2, you don't even have to have a good graphics card, I play them on my laptop all the time. Also, I don't know how much the Euro is compared to the dollar, but I got both games for 8 dollars. I like Fallout 1 better than New Vegas and Fallout 2 is really fricken funny.

OT: New vegas is better.
