How come no one really uses the magnum? I mean it's great; it's a five headshot kill and is crazy fast. I'm I just weird or what?

Yes, you are weird. It's a not efficient because of the clip size, and not just that good of a weapon if you have a rifle handy.

I use it all the time.

It is better than the DMR at close range.

And if you are good at grenade planting, then you will get a lot of OHK with it.

its an amazing gun, but it doesn't perform well in long range, and only gets the job done a little in medium, plus its ammo efficiency is awful, so it wont last you very long. If your reffering to campaign or firefight, I don't use them often because theres usually a super weapon nearby, especially on single player campaign where the pistols themselves are actually kind of rare. As for multiplayer, the only time I don't use them is because I almost always carry around an assault rifle, so I need a sturdy long range weapon in my other slot, which is almost always a DMR or needle rifle. Sometimes I swap my assault rifle for a pistol though, because again, that gun friggin rolls things in close range XD.

Do you mean in Campaign or in Multiplayer? Because in the former, I see people using it all the time. Kat uses it for a good portion of her game play.

If you mean the Latter, well it may have to do with a number of things. Most players are coming over from Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 among other games, but in most games, the magnum is an underpowered weapon that many people don't like to think could ever be useful. I see them being used all the time by losing teams in Team Snipers and Swat, but outside of those gametypes, everyone seems to think that they can outgun you with an Assault Rifle from across the map on Countdown or something.

I love the damn thing, I currently have more kills with it in matchmaking than anything else. It's amazing in standard Slayer when everyone else is using the assault rifle because they haven't worked out it sucks yet.

It isn't quite as accurate as the DMR is, especially at longer reaches (which is where you're most likely to see other players in most matches), but the second I enter a tight hallway or such I switch out to the Magnum, and laugh as I just manage to take out the DMR-wielding fellow that pops out from around the corner.

The DMR seems to do more damage than the Magnum does per-shot too, so that may be a factor in the matter.

Well good for you, now try using a DMR or needle rifle, or another real long range gun and see how it works. Ive killed people from across the maps with a friggin assault rifle before, just about anything can kill somebody without a shield from that distance.

The only time I use it is during Gruntpocalypse because thats all you need.
During campaign its hassle to keep reloading every two seconds.

The mag is pretty useful when you need a quick kill shot, but I hardly see any in campaign. The DMR serves all my head shots in Matchmaking and campaign, it has a good clip, and you can use it long and short range.

The best game to use the mag is ODST, I loved it in that game.

I try to but it's only a decent weapon. Most maps don't give you enough open space to use it as it should be, so the assault rifle becomes a better choice. It is, however, my favorite weapon on Powerhouse, which is probably the best to use it on. I hope the map DLCs (and there probably will be some)will offer more varied maps than the current lot.
