Quick question about the theives guild in skyrim

So I'm trying to restore to former glory, I've done like 20 of those "rewrite the ledger" quests and 5 of the other two, yet I have no been able to change anything about the guild

I get my quests from Delvin

What am I doing wrong?

you need to get quest from mercer or the guy who got you into the guild, the ledger quest do nothing for the plot.

Mercer is dead. I'm being told I have to do repeatable quests.

Mercer is dead. I'm being told I have to do repeatable quests.

eh, then you need to do return the skeleton key to the twilight sepulcher. It's the final quest for the thieves guild. after that, they don't even mention much about the guild finances, it doesn't even really change much, other then you end up as the leader.

eh, then you need to do return the skeleton key to the twilight sepulcher. It's the final quest for the thieves guild. after that, they don't even mention much about the guild finances, it doesn't even really change much, other then you end up as the leader.

This really disappointed me in Skyrim, Oblivion's Thieves guild line was so much more involving.

I already completed the main quest line for the guild, I need to restore the guild.

Do jobs for both Vex and Delvin, after a few quests for each Delvin will offer "Special Contracts." When you complete them it opens one of the stores around where Delvin hangs out. You need to work for both though, I usually get one job from each and complete both before returning.

Once the fours stores are open... well, that's about it honestly. Sometimes a little money in the Guildmaster's Chest for you. The real reward is it increases the amount of money your fence has so you can sell off more stolen crap.

kinda sad that this is about all you really get as a reward, I didn't even bother. I can see why mercer ran off with the skeleton key.

Fun Fact: Mercer was voiced by the same person who voiced Garrett in the thief series.

Essentaily you have to complete enough quests from vex and devlin untill you have done four such quests in one of the holds, then a special quest will become available from devlin completion of this will upgrade the guild. It comes down to luck and persistance, sometimes you will have to complete more quests than actualy required simpley beacuse of the random element of getting quests in the correct area.
