Why would a dart to the head kill you?
This is like asking why the guy who tried to kill himself with a nail gun was still alive after driving 9 or so nails into his head. A dart would be far less likely to do any real damage even if it did manage to get through the skull. Your brain isn't an off switch, touching it doesn't kill you.

Yes. As you can see, the blue wal represents the head. The lonely dart molecule (the dirty baseball player) is charging the head. However, the dart molecule does manage to get into his head (See: His left hand is touching the blue wall) but his advance is stopped by the force field molecules.
