Quick question for someone with the Sims 3

I'll make a long story short and say that recently while trying to patch the Sims 3 I ran into a problem with the file Shaders_Win32.precomp in the Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin folder. My issue is that I think I've inadvertently changed the program/software used to run/open that file, so my patcher isn't reading it. (Yes, I've replaced the file with the original, but still to no avail).

Would someone with the base Sims 3 game be so kind as to go into their Bin folder, right click the Shaders_Win32.precomp file, select properties and tell me what program it opens with? Here's a pic that explains what I'm looking for:

Any help would be dearly appreciated.

As far as I know, that's part of windows explorer and it shouldn't screw up your patcher.
I recommend you call/E-mail/whatever EA tech support.

Your pic is exactly right; it's supposed to open with that.

While I doubt you need to go as far as contacting EA Tech support, I'd google around a bit (If you haven't already). Or run the Sims repairer, if it has one, since I know reinstalling all that is going to be a pain.

I downloaded a patch log viewer that gives specifics when a patch has a problem installing, regardless of what I've tried it constantly reports Shaders_Win32.precomp as an 'invalid file', and the reason for the patch not installing, so if it's not to do with the fact I may have changed the file I'm not sure what it could be. I also have no mods installed so that rules out any conflicts there.

And as for EA support.... I've had way too much trouble with them to bother, they dance around the issue, or give an automated response telling me to reinstall. The game still runs perfectly fine, I just can't update it.

Thanks for the help, I've gone nuts on Google, game forums, sims sites.. etc. The general consensus is that replacing the Shaders_Win32.precomp file with the original from the CD should fix the problem, but I've tried that, as well as downloading the file from multiple sites to try them as well. Still no luck, and my patcher is continuing to read the file as invalid. I'll try the Sims 3 repair utility though, I can't believe I didn't think to look for that, thanks :)

I hope I can figure this out though, I'm dreading reinstalling. It took me days worth of troubleshooting to get the base game and the expansions working in the first place, and every new expansion is a ridiculous hassle. I can't imagine having to do that all over again :/
