Are you making a character based on yourself?
If no, then you're roleplaying a character. If yes, then you may very well be.
I'm not a furry, but I do sometimes like to play anthropomorphic characters in game. This usually comes down to one of two reasons:
The first is that I find it easier to not identify with furry characters than with human ones. With TES games especially, I'm not playing for a roleplaying experience, I'm playing for the exploration and loot and sandbox RPG stuffs.
The second is mostly for MMOs- you don't get hit on as much when you're a ten foot cow woman. I tried rolling a Belf to be a Horde paladin, and day one, I get hit on three times. I mean, people say bronies are bad about inserting ponies into everything, but try being an asexual in an internet where everyone is so damn horny.
Despite the stereotype of furries wanting to bone anything with a tail, I've only had a serious request of that nature once, and it was awkward, but at least they were polite about it.
Now, OP, the Argonian lore is a bit sparse, but really cool nonetheless. The improbability of an argonian with an imperial would make for a potentially interesting story, no sex necessary.
