That depends.

Are you making a character based on yourself?

If no, then you're roleplaying a character. If yes, then you may very well be.
This.

I'm not a furry, but I do sometimes like to play anthropomorphic characters in game. This usually comes down to one of two reasons:
The first is that I find it easier to not identify with furry characters than with human ones. With TES games especially, I'm not playing for a roleplaying experience, I'm playing for the exploration and loot and sandbox RPG stuffs.

The second is mostly for MMOs- you don't get hit on as much when you're a ten foot cow woman. I tried rolling a Belf to be a Horde paladin, and day one, I get hit on three times. I mean, people say bronies are bad about inserting ponies into everything, but try being an asexual in an internet where everyone is so damn horny.
Despite the stereotype of furries wanting to bone anything with a tail, I've only had a serious request of that nature once, and it was awkward, but at least they were polite about it.

Now, OP, the Argonian lore is a bit sparse, but really cool nonetheless. The improbability of an argonian with an imperial would make for a potentially interesting story, no sex necessary.

Uh, why should you give two shits? It's Skyrim, do whatever the hell you want and enjoy the damn game.
No, that's not true, no tentacle raping little Kahjit children for example. Because somehow that is considered bad.

On topic:
If the people of Skyrim giggle every time they see you and your spouse around maybe you have that kind of problem. If they come after you with a pitchfork you know you have upset their moral systeml.

Only if you feel bouts of sexual joy every time you consummate your relationship.

And if you do, I would like to not hear about it, thanks.

It's a game,do whatever you like. You shouldn't feel like you have to justify the choices you make so long as it makes you happy.

Depends what you mean. By some people's definitions, any anthropomorphic animal is considered a furry, and Argonians fall into this category, so in that case, yes, it is considered to be a furry. Now, whether you are considered to be a furry or not is a different matter.

No, doing that does not necessarily make you a furry. People are furries because they like anthro characters. They think humanlike animals are a really neat idea. Someone might choose to be an imperial and marry an argonian because they might be a furry and therefore they might think argonians look really cool, or it could be for any number of other reasons that are unrelated to furries. But it's just like anything else: your actions don't define you, you define your actions. The only people who are furries are those who conciously choose to be.

Why does it matter anyway? Being a furry isn't a bad thing, and it doesn't really have much to do with Elder Scrolls in the first place. It's like if I had said `hey, I was going to read this book I found called The Time Machine, but first I wanted to ask just to make sure this doesn't make me a Dr. Who fan ...'

I dont tink so. I've had relationships with men in games if they give the options as a male character, though Im not homosexual.

its not like it really matters anyway. you do what you do cause you enjoy it, dont worry what other people think or what negative connotations come with it.

only if you want to dress up as one and have sex in real life

Virtual marriage, on the other hand, is incredibly sad.

Well, as you all know, Skyrim is coming out this November, and I like many others am stoked that it's going to come out. Any how, seeing how there is going to be a marriage system in the game, I figured that I'm going to play an imperial male, and marry an argonian woman.

Now here is the question, is this considered to be a furry?
No, that's scaly.

Think of it like this, Yahtzee married another guy in Dragon Age 2, that doesn't make him gay.

Well, your character might well be a furry... As he is 100% under your control, i'm sure it's up to you if he's a furry or something... I dunno, join an RP community, and write a biography of him or something lame like that, assert your furry character, and then raise your children to not be furries.

I have no idea. I suppose it might make your character a furry. **shrug**

More importantly - you have a wonderful avatar. ^^ I love that character.

I think the only reasonable solution is some kind of bigomist/polygomist relationship where you are simultaneously married to two of each and every race/species (one male, one female ofc). Then you all form a family band and roam the countryside, playing lute-based covers of modern death metal classics that are so lyrical and beautiful that even the dragons themselves stop warring and come together with people of all races colours and creeds to join hands and weep at the sheer majesty of your weird multicultural family band.

Wha'd'ya mean you can't do that? I thought you said this was an open-world game Bethesda!

Don't get so caught up in labels. If you want to be a furry, be a furry. If you don't, fuck what anyone else thinks about your Argonian wife. It's just a game, play it however you want.

.No.

Depends, are you going to install a porno mod?
...

I think everyone has the nudity mod.

So yeah.
There is a difference between the two. One only effects visuals, and the other(potentially) introduces new gameplay elements.

What, OP? You scared that The Escapist just might have horrible, horrible bigots in its midst that could point fingers at you and go "How dare you mate outside of your species, you ungodly, Devil-worshipping meanieface!" and potentially go Westboro on your front lawn?

XD

Seriously, as everyone else has said - who freaking cares? If the beast races are more interesting to you than the Mer or the humans, then what of it? So long as you don't buy a housecat or an iguana with some fairly twisted shit in mind in real life, being more interested in anthropomorphic animals in the context of an RPG does not make you a furry.

I like anthros for their symbolism, for how efficient some storytellers are at pairing some human traits with specific species. It oftentimes helps to put difficult issues across, as is the case with the "Blacksad" series of comics, or with "Maus", by Art Spiegelman. Does that automatically make a fursuit-wearing fan out of me who labors on an oversized tail in his free time? Of course not. And even if it did, what of it?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a furry. Where there *is* something wrong is when I hear about furs who insist on going about their daily lives in fursona, to the point where the only time where they actually bother to look normal is when work or official matters require it.

As yes, there are furries of that stripe. Anything below that, however, is absolutely fine by me.
