Alrighty, so I just started learning guitar and I'm having a bit of trouble with my first chord, which is G for those of you interested. Every time I get one finger into place another slides out and once I get *that* finger into place, the first one slides out, so on and so on and so on.
Here's the thing, I *just* decided to start learning,, I re-strung my mom's old guitar, got a tuner and a beginner book and started, like, three days ago, so I don't know if this is part of the learning curve or if I'm doing something wrong here.
No, I'm not taking lessons, not yet. I just got let go from my last job and I'll start taking them when I get a steadier source of income, whether I tackle this tricky chord or not.
Anyhow.
Basically I'm wondering which of these two should I choose:
1. Should I just keep trying? I'd think after a couple of days I'd at least have one chord down or is this pretty much normal for most beginners and my fingers will eventually find their place?
2. Is there something wrong with my technique and should I wait until lessons? I know that's a tricky question to answer considering you guys can't see what I'm doing but I'm pretty sure I'm following what the book says to a T. But I'm only "pretty sure", maybe there's something wrong I'm doing that a teacher can spot and fix.
