Hi all if the title wasn't clear enough, I am interested in finding out what problems people have with One Piece.
Currently in the episode 250 region of the series and am enjoying it massively.
I have heard that other people put it in the same pile as Naruto and Bleach, but I never got to hear what issues it has. I wouldn't call it filler heavy as the series so far is always focused 99% of the time on the main characters, and the whole story is about their journey.
The only other thing I can think of is it's outlandish style and the DUB oh my god the dub makes me almost throw up.

So anyone any ideas what's peoples beef with the series :D ?

My beef consists of two points:
1) It's shonen stuff along the lines of Bleach and Naruto. Although it admittedly seems like the better of the three.
2) Five. Fucking. Hundred. Episodes

I get not watching something for the 600 now I think episodes, but to hate it doesn't make sense.
And for the Shonen people still love Full Metal especially on the escapist, also art style wise it's mostly not Shonen if what I looked up was correct.

I wasn't aware that people hated it well ok I encounter that poor attempt to state why it was bad in this anime site.
Anyway it's one of my favourite anime and it's way more superior compare to Naruto and Bleah (well Bleach had fallen from grace these days so I will replace it with Fairy Tail).
Yes it's a very long series but that's what is so great about these long running series. It's the journey of seeing what the characters had to go through and the characters development along the way. Not only that but that anime universe is vast and deep.

I guess it's because people like different things. Maybe some people don't find all that fun stuff to be... well, fun. I read the manga so I can't comment on the fillers, but that might be another reason. Fillers are the reason I quit watching Bleach.

The only version I saw was the 4kids version. Also I'm too old to get into a series that seems like it has no ending ever.

That's kinda what I am getting at. I remember a while back in some of mine and other anime threads that they place One Piece in the same area as Bleach and Naruto, but with those two they have actual faults not due to the style. Naruto I find has bad voice acting, cheesy dialogue, awful pacing over all. Bleach just has loads of pointless filler.

But with One Piece the only issue I have seen that someone brought up was the pacing being slow, tho personally I wouldn't call it in the same way Naruto is, in other words the towns they visit tends to be a multitude of episodes (but I tend to find it helps to get attached to the side character, while with Naruto it's just plain filler without much story context)

I haven't watched Full metal alchemist, so I can't say much, but I'm pretty much just as reluctant to watch that as I am towards One piece.

And I don't hate the series.
I read something like 150 chapters of the manga before reaching a level of just soooo fed up.
That's why I'm not willing to invest my time in the series.
I do read Mahou sensei Negima though.

Probably the 4Kids dubbing. I understand they've fixed this, but I was always more ninja than pirate anyhow.

4Kids set a terrible, TERRIBLE precident for the show's american audience, and the image kinda stuck. Their work alone has caused many a viewer to preemptively turn up their noses at it, but while that would possibly contribute to people being unwilling to give it a shot, it would be unfair to say that it is the main source of people's ire towards it. Other marks against it that contribute towards it would be - as noted priorly - the length and pacing (The most egregious case perhaps being the Impel Down-Mariford arcs, which never gave the audience time to catch their breath), and the fact that it's a shonen series which follows in the footsteps of Dragonball in terms of focus (which isn't everyone's cup of tea).

It's okay. I was really into it up to the end of that whole Alabasta arc thingy... Since that ended, I never returned to it. The stories became more ludicrous and deviated from what I enjoyed about the series.

I feel this way about a lot of anime or manga, actually. Naruto and Bleach's first one or two major arcs were highly enjoyable but instead of ending in a classy or satisfying way they just drag out and burst their limits.

My beef? I love One Piece.

Believe it or not I liked the 4Kids dub when it existed. Then I saw the subbed version and thought. "Fuck dat shit, this one's a million times better."

People don't like One Piece? It's not bad, and it's not popular enough for people to say that it's bad because it doesn't deserve the attention.

1 in 8 people read the manga in Japan and to have 600 episodes near enough, it's got to be fairly popular... but then again the dub most likely killed any chances of it being big over here currently.

I hope someone re does the dub, as it could get some attention that way.

I've seen the first couple episodes and so far I'm enjoying it, but it's gonna take a long while to catch up. After all, I still have other shows I wanna watch, too.

So I'm guessing it's either because of the whole shounen Bleach/ Naruto hate thing, it's length, or the 4kids dub, or it could just be that they don't like the show itself.

At least it doesn't defeat the main antagonist and act like it's about to end then comes up with a whole new story arc to troll the whole Shonen Jump fan community -__-; *looks at a certain whiting chemical.....

OK - It's filled with filler arcs.
Claymore - No filler whatsoever, no over 100 manga issues.
Fan Service - Plenty in One Piece, none in Claymore.
Fight scenes that make sense - Some in One Piece, at the beginning at least before one has to make A DRILL THE PIERCES THE HEAVENS, or for some THE STRONGEST WARRIOR IN THE UNIVERSE- Now with a stronger version, But in Claymore - None.
Bleach also pulls most of that shit up, though Naruto has a bit less.
Haven't looked much at Fairy Tail but it eerily reminds me of Harry Potter due to the amount of characters which forces me to believe that in the last Arc ALL WILL DIE. Just sayin'.
