And from his description led to a site, which seemed to imply video game work, and then to a devlog for one of their games. I saw her name ("Dana") in a screenshot for another game, though not the same character. His previous tweets before that one was implying he was drawing, so chances are he just drew the character for fun and practice. No actual game with her in it, it seems.

Yes...I know. I saw the firstly the picture in this twitter account, but it didn't struck me this maybe is just a "test" character...
But I have still hope maybe this is actually from a game. After all it is not 100% sure he was talking about this specific character.

I am insanely impressed that you managed to find that. My approach was to cross search the exact dimensions of the image with various combinations of possible key words (Dana, 2D girl, Samurai Girl, Sword, Purple Hair, Visual Novel), but I got nothing that way.
