Quick Scoping

Had a quick search of the forum and couldn't find a topic with quick scoping as a title. Anywho recently played on MW2 again and noticed that the multiplayer is still teeming with quick scopers. Just wondered opinions on this and whether you think that its a true show of skill or an annoying tactic employed by people who don't know how to snipe.

And really tired of snipers trying to declare the gun a sacred thing that you can't change up tactics with. Quick scoping isn't a problem.

I wouldn't say people "shouldn't" do it as any tactic that works is viable. However, I think game developers should try to render it impossible to use as it goes against the idea of the weapon.

So any game that allows it, then fine, but games shouldn't allow it.

It goes against the whole idea of using a sniper rifle and pointing in the vague direction of the enemy and abusing auto-aim is not any show of skill.

I'm not fond of it, but I'm going to hate anyone who does it.

It does make for some great Youtube vids though.

Instead of playing MW2, play a better multiplayer. Like Bioshock 2, or L4D(2).

Actually it was called "Quick Scoping in MW2" and yes it did happen, it was not glorious

Erm alot of people have issues with it, its in the game so suck it, if another thing was broken we would all be bitching about that.

Quick Scoping is flavour of the month though, we can't stop it!.

Would play bioshock and L4D2 more if enough of my friends had them. both multiplayer modes are good but appear to lack appeal if your by yourself.

Same here. But aren't you discouraged slightly when you scope in for a game winning kill and get abuse hurled at you for doing so?

You didn't search enough! The Escapist searchbar is a little broken, so Google the thread and Escapist to check.

OT: It's annoying on games where mobility is not there, like MewTwo.

I felt the Intervention on that game was a expy of the Halo sniper rifle.

Yeah sorry, i just assumed that as the word quick scoping didn't show up there wasn't a topic on it. i'll be more thorough next time.

Quick scoping and cod go hand to hand,I started doing it out of reflex,after playing cod4 for a while you stop caring about realism and start abusing the game every single way you can to get kills.

Wait, do you mean my thread or was there another one? Because I made one like, a couple of days ago.

Everyone seems to have a go at quickscopers because apparently it's cheap, now, considering most guns in MW2 can kill you before someone can bring their scope up, and then when they do bring their scope up, they have one chance to hit you which isn't easy by any means.

I mean, why would there be montages of it if it was so easy? It's ridiculous.

Not at all. I saw 1 youtube video of someone doing it, realized it meant that you could kill anyone with one shot at any range, and proceeded to dominate the next match with it.
It doesn't even take that much practice.

Basically, it's a kind of noobish way to kill people, but at least it takes more skill than knifing or noob tubing.
