Screw you. Go be a flagger then get back to me (unionized I get paid same as you). That doesn't destroy your soul, it destroys your will to live. I'd say that's a lot more important. I'd trade you jobs instantly. At least with that kind of job you're active *and* you get to work in a building. Mine, I get to sit in the sun 12+ hours a day, 5 days a week, literally doing fucking nothing but standing in one spot. That is, if you can find a job to be on anyway. Did I mention no breaks whatsoever? Have to go to the bathroom? Too damn bad. Emergency and you can't make it to the job that day? You're kicked off. Guess ya go back to looking.

Hooray not being able to get a job doing *anything* else. May as well end it all. Probably be happier, though I'm not there yet.

So yeah, it could be worse. Much fucking worse. With that in mind, still try to find some other job.

Dude, i don't care what job i have.
If it paid $13 an hour id stick it out.

But if its bothering you that bad and if you can find a better job then go for it.
Just make sure you actually HAVE another job after you quit.
Make sure you will be hired.

For the record I'm australian so I'm not paid in pounds or quid.
My parents both work and we're an upper middle class family, I really took the job because I liked the idea of having some independence.

you get paid 13 dollars, or whatever the australian currency is, for 4-5 hours a week!? that's ridiculous, you'd be a fool to let that job go.
13 AUD an hour is pretty average for aussie casual jobs

seriously? jesus, i'd kill to get £13 in england.

Welcome to the real world!

Seriously though, stick at it mate. If you're going to uni and working at this place you're at least supporting yourself. Plus you just have to remember it's not your career and make sure it never gets that way. If it's getting truly unbearable then quit but for that rate of pay I'd hang in there. I myself am currently in a similar situation, although I don't loathe my job. Planning on going to college in September and maintaining this job to pay my rent, food, car bills, tuition fees and generally staying alive. It's hard work but it'll pay dividends in the long run and yeah some days are shit but at least you won't be just scraping by like a lot of students are.

Money can not buy happiness... well it can, if, you know, you like shiny things... and games, games are good too.

Also, money can buy cookies...

[sub]What was the topic again?[/sub]
that was the FUNNIEST thing I have seen on this website
that was awesome.
"money cannot buy happiness, but it can buy a better class of misery"
"money IS happiness"

OT:
13 bucks an hour to take plates 0.0
I get paid 8 bucks to work in a dirty stockroom lifting heavy things and pulling shoes out of a box and them putting them back in.
If your like, failing school because of it then maybe you should quit, I dunno.

I'm heading into my fourth year at a grocery store... It's worth keeping, if only for the excellent mark on your resume.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a job you actually enjoy, especially with your age, experience, and availability limiting your options. This poster's opinion is for you to stick with it so you can put that cash towards making college life a LOT easier.

Deal with it and ignore the evil stares of the people you "serve" you'll need the money you get in the long run.

You guys are right, there are worse jobs out there and the pay is really good, I'll need every cent I can get for uni so sorry for sounding so bitchy. I guess I was going through one of my unhappy moments when I just feel like shit. Thanks for the slap in the face.

Let me give you a four-word piece of advice:

Grow the fuck up.

One of the essential things about being an adult is that occasionally (nay, frequently) you will be called upon to do stuff that sucks in order to get what you want in life. It is an essential element of maturity to shut your mouth and do your job---and if you claim there's no time for you to have personal time and enjoy yourself, perhaps you should re-assess how you spend your personal time.

Between being a full-time student and producing a radio show, I work somewhere on the order of 50 hours a week. I sleep another 50 (avg. a shade over 7 hours a night). That leaves SIXTY-EIGHT HOURS of time I can fill with things I enjoy. You can't tell me that 50 hours isn't a lot of work. You also can't tell me that 68 hours isn't a hell of a lot of time to post on the Escapist, play video games, watch sports, and go on a date or get laid once in awhile.

So I'll say it again. Grow. The Fuck. Up.

13 an hour!? For busing tables!? Dude I'll be making 8 an hour for carrying heavy boxes for 8 hours a day. You're living the fucking dream if you ask me.

EDIT: Woot, 1000th post!
