there should be a game coming out about 2011, The Old Republic. new MMO with VOICE OVERS, no joke either. and its by Bioware, its bound to be the best MMO ever.
That's what I thought.
But the more info was released, the more similar it looked to WoW.

I was happy to see a MMORPG without the classic triangle system.

I could start ranting about, how stupid I find the idea of jedi tanks, or decicated jedi healers (yeah I know, the lore states there has been at least one, but that doesn't justify thousands of them running around), but I won't.
I don't want to tear my hair out...
True, the idea of it is retarded. But where else can you play as a Bounty Hunter who joins the Republic, or a Jedi who joins the darkside. This whole entire game is with the fourth pillar known as STORY, have you seen the live gameplay and voiced actors? Its exactly like mass effect, you choose GOOD/NEUTRAL/EVIL choices that can never be changed. THATS WHY I LOVE BIOWARE!
Well I haven't been following this game for some time now.
Has there been any new word on the endgame content?
PvE, PvP, crafting and such?
No, no word, so far i think they are still working with the characters and creating worlds. so far they are on Planet 13 *Hoth Planet* but i wouldn't be suprised if they continued to 50 planets. Plus i think they are gonna keep ingame content like endgame and crafting out of the wraps until they release the game, just to screw with people.
I didn't expect anything else from bioware :D
So I assume no beta invite have been send out yet, even though you could apply for more than half a year or so ago?

MapleStory is what I usually find myself defaulting back to every three months or so. I can't stop, apparently. Even though it's being a little ***** and won't let me create any new characters! As well as deleting all my old ones! Dammit, I had some good shit on those guys... ;_;

Lord of the Rings is free to play up to level 50 now. That's the whole Vanilla game. Not bad, my boss swears by it.

I played Dragon Age shortly after quitting WoW.

I started off with a dwarf and went with an archer build because I missed my hunter. Then I played a sword and board human. That wasn't so much fun, but my city elf rogue was all kinds of backstabbing fun.

They did not have anything like a gnome warlock or troll priest, or I would have rolled those too.

After a couple weeks away from WoW, I started not to miss it at all. And now, I couldn't care less about Cataclysm, even though it brings in the number one thing I've wanted in the game from the start - Goblin pcs. Hey, I'm short, I like short races and I wanted to roll Horde.

I've heard heroine is pretty fun and addicting, cocaine too.

Not much else you can find that would really give you that WoW experience.

No, wait. If society is going to kick you out, you can hang out at my place. I don't hate people for liking things I don't like :D

Maplestory tends to take a good while to complete, what with having 200 levels, and a hell of a lot of different classes to play. That and they're improving on the content constantly.
5 years and I had 1 character past lvl70...

That's not what we Americans learned in school...

On topic: I put another vote on Guild Wars 2. The first One was great, and the expansions were...decent.

All Points Bulletin is out soon enough, its in Beta currently and should be out in july i think.
Basic cops vs. robbers with incredible amounts of customization and fun stuff to do.

It depends on how much you want to skew one way or the other.

On the MMO side:

You might consider looking into Dungeons and Dragons Online - since it went free to play it will certainly be easy on your wallet initially. I've been finding it pretty fun recently, but then again I'm a gigantic nerd who loves D&D (tonight's my pen & paper gaming session, glee), so your mileage might vary.

But hey, it's free!
This. DDO is the only MMO as you'd concider it that held my interest for more than a couple of weeks.

If you're looking for more of a multiplayer open world RPG, then some of the persistant worlds in Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 are true MMORPGs; in that you actually roleplay with other people. I haven't tried NWN 2, but I'd recommend Legacy of the North in the first game. It's under the "Roleplay" header, and in the Local Vault area, so disable "Hide Local Vault" on your filter.

if your interested in something really special and aren't going 'fuck it' if the graphics aren't the best you could try tibia, there is a quite big free version and you can pay if you want to (but i heavily suggest it if you like it)

unfortunately you will probably be out of luck until Cataclysm, The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, or Final Fantasy XIV - All of which will start to trickle out next year. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Cataclysm land between Nov '10 - Jan '11.
Cataclysm will be out well before november, I'd look for a september release

Fallen Earth is a really good Fallout 3-esqu post-apoc. MMO.

You can try the 10-day free trial too. It's really addicting.

If you want story, play LOTRO. It's becoming freemium in fall, but I'd suggest subscribing anyways. It's worth it.
