When I watched the opening episode, it was cool.

When I watched it again, I thought it was still pretty cool.

When I saw the first episode for the millionth time... Not so much.

Seriously, does anyone else remember that? Most abused re-run in TV history.

My family and I would spread out in the living room every week in anticipation, only to see the same episode every frickin' time. That plane crashed on my screen so many times it left residue.
That's called the recap dude, watch further than the "Previously on LOST" moment :p

Please, to all those who hate it after one season or for no good reason; fuck off. You didn't like it fine, please don't spread your negativity here. "I hate it 'cause the premise changed." So what? Your problem. Don't be a dick and try to ruin it for everyone else, accept there are lots of fans and go on with your life. You didn't like it, does it make a big difference on your life? No, so piss off. Leave it for the fans. It didn't take over your lives like some malevolent black smoke monster did it?

Sorry about that, I just get annoyed about the retarded haters. I for one absolutely fucking loved the ending, and the entire show. It's been my favourite for several years, since Twin Peaks really. I'll miss it a lot (I went through puberty with this show. Started at 14, finish just before I turn 20) and I've loved every minute. I would like to thank everybody involved in the show.
Preach on, brother!

If you know me,(and chances are, you probably don't) you'd know that I am a huge Lost fanatic. I mention my screwed up love/hate relationship with the show every other post and even have Michael Emerson "Oh my God"-ing away on my avatar. People have devoted 6 years of their life watching this beautiful scam of a show and it's all been leading up to this. Now, the fated night has arrived and the show has finally reached its conclusion....

What did I think.....

Jack perishes and the alternate universe was purgatory. I suppose the writers saved the whole "purgatory" idea for the last season. Awesome.

The show has had ups: The superb and fantastic Desmond, quite possibly the greatest, most resilient television character in history.

The show has also had some grotesque, disgusting, dank, despicable, downright devious downs:
For example, the writers constantly leaving plots dangling...oh yeah....Nikki and Paulo, also.

So, my fellow Escapististizians, post your favorite Lost moment or nerd rage about the fact that the entire show has been about a puff of smoke. Just post something in memory of a show that kept audiences confused for 6 years and will continue to confuse audiences LONG after its demise. That show can only be known as.....LOST.
The ending was fantastic. After devoting so much time to the show, I was really glad to see it end in such a great way. I wonder if they had always planned on them being in purgatory or if that was added after all the rumors popped up.

Also, speaking of Michael Emerson, what do you think was the significance of Ben staying behind?

You have GOT to be shitting me. So it was all a 'oh this person is really dead/dying' thing!? I thought they promised fans that this wasn't the case! I gave up at series 4, it just got too confusing but that's a terrible ending, what a shame.
To be fair, they probably had no idea where this shit was going. Thus by the time it came to writing the final season they were forced to put all the fan theories into a hat, with the one drawn out being the one used.

I think it was a couple things. Partly that he was still ashamed of everything he had put the Losties through, but mostly to stay with Alex. She was killed right before his eyes because, in his opinion, he didn't act, and now he has a chance to make up for that and see her grow up and live. Kind of sweet.

Didn't I see you before, brutha? We chatted about Lost a few days ago...

Seeing as how this is "purgatory", Ben is probably going to Hell to suffer eternal torture and will have to endure multiple painful probings from the Devil.

Also...seriously...there are WAY too many negative nellies on this thread. People need to stop complaining about shows they've never watched. I only created this thread to honor the life of a once great show and where people could pay their respect. That's apparently too much and people seem to enjoy desecrating Lost's grave by defecating all over it.

I can't wait to waste my life savings on the "Holy Shit Super Ultimate Titting Awesome Deluxe Complete Edition" of the series.

Nope. We watched every single one all the way through. We thought it was just the recap too.

I'm a big time fan of Lost, the final episode hasn't aired yet in Australia(But i read the spoiler anyway :p).

Here's what i don't get about Lost, why would the black smoke(man in black) and the hostiles(The others, Jacobs bunch) both attacked the Dharma Initiate on season 5 or something.....Whats going on there?

It amazes me that even up until this last episode, there were people clinging to the idea that some 3 hour explanation was going to suddenly fill in 5 years of plot holes in a satisfactory way. Honestly half way through they should have just had Rick Astley come on and do his bit, and cut to text going "Gotcha!"

The very end, with Jack walking through the jungle to the same spot where the series began back in 2004, was just the best thing I've ever seen on television. Pure, wordless emotion, and when Vincent came and sat with him in his dying moments, you could tell there were masters at character-driven drama at work here. They really cranked the emotion-o-meter up to 11 with the finale, and I think it was good that rather than focus on the mysteries of the Island (which, lets face it, probably would have ended up looking silly if they did explain it), they focused on closing off the stories of all these people we've been following for 6 years. I think it was the right way to go about it. The mystery and mythology of the Island was always just a backdrop for these characters to grow and develop, and as a character show, Lost's finale tied everything up just about perfectly.

We'll certainly be talking about this for years, and I can safely bet there'll never be another show quite like it.

Could someone explain what the fuck happened in the finale? Because I haven't the foggiest idea. The best I can guess is that no one survived the inital crash in season 1 and the island was some uber-fucked up version of an afterlife in between life and death. And don't get me started on the alternate universe because my head hurts enough as it is.

I don't know if Ben is going to Hell... it was implied that he helped Hurley run things well. Maybe he just wants to stay with Alex for a while. Although, it's possible that he killed/betrayed one too many people to deserve Heaven.

I will also most likely end up buying the complete edition, despite already owning the DVD box sets of the first five seasons. So, essentially, I'll be blowing tons of money for a couple of extra interviews with Damon and Carlton that are sure to be posted on YouTube within a few days of release. Good old Lost... making a gigantic sucker out of me... I'll miss that.

Can't agree more, it's all about the characters.

I'll definately miss it. I stuck with it because I adored the characters and wanted to know what would happen to them, which is why i liked the ending.

I cried like a baby everytime someone remembered their past life...with that music...ack i'm such a girl!

I don't really get that from it, it seems less an issue of heaven and hell, and more just moving on together. Ben wasn't outcaste and made stay behind, he was invited several times in fact. It makes sense he'd stay voluntarily, he saw the oppurtunity to have the life with his daughter he couldn't. It was sweet.

I thought it was an excellent ending. Less so for explaining, but because it was used solely as a means to give closure to all the character growth shown over the 6 seasons, which to me was always lost's strongest aspect.
No one gives star wars (the originals that is) this much hate, and that makes even less sense than lost. Lucas made shit up all the time, revised canon, made Darth Vader luke's father (and Leia his sister) well after the first movie and so forth. But people don't get caught up in that, because it was about the journey the characters made, rather than making a cohesive plot. Lost certainly wasn't iron clad in it's mythology by any means, but the plot was always a means for the characters to react to, and explaining all the mystery would be no fun anyway, just to appease some pedantic need for viewer omniscience. I'm guessing a lot of people don't like being as in the dark as the characters. For me it was a huge strength.

Yeah, I didn't get Hell from it either. Ben was a good man, just... misguided at times. It was really great to see all of the characters in such a good light as the show ended. Jack's growth from man of science to man of faith was particularly great. I would honestly say that Jack Shepard is one of the greatest characters in television history. Seeing him change from season 1 to season 6 was a wonderful experience.

I actually feel that the ending was all right, I mean you could't really go through the show and expect everything to be answered because no show does that! Besides, any explaination would be ridiculed to death anyway. All I can say is Rest In Peace Lost and I'll see you in Purgatory.

I agree with this entry mostly. [http://lostmediamentions.blogspot.com/2010/05/someone-from-bad-robots-take-on-finale.html]
The more I reflect on the ending, the more I see it as beautiful and fitting.

God, I still can't believe it's gone... And it seems that not even Futurama's return can't make me forget about Lost...
I'll really, really miss this show.
For 2 reasons:
1. The characters(there are only 3 shows that made me fall in love with their characters: Lost, Scrubs, Futurama, and Firefly), I really felt like I could relate to some of the characters + Ben as a bad guy ended up being one of my favorite bady(malefic, manipulative, strong sense of humour)
2. I felt like the story could have gotten a believable ending. Nothing Sci-Fi, but something that could all be explained with logic. In the end(actually at then end of S4) it turned out it was going to go for something out of the ordinary(Sci-Fi or mythologic).
I did enjoy and love the ending (a lot) however, because it reminded me of what kind of a person I am(I'm more of a religious person that was doubted his fate for a very long time), and because it had a resolution for everyone(trust me although you go like "I don't want happy endings any more, because I'm bored of them", when you really fall in love with the characters you want nothing different that the "happily ever after" version).
But to be honest I loved that Lost didn't give in to peer-pressure and end on a Sci-Fi note(I feel that not many shows can implement Sci-Fi in an intelligent way, without promoting more of the "Fi" and less of the "Sci")

Anyway, Lost will be missed...
