Its not that the R rating makes people turn away, it means some people CANT see it. People who dont like vulgarity and stuff probably base it off what they know as opposed to just it being R rated.

The rating is usually irrelevant unless it stops me from watching it >.>

Having said that, I wouldn't ever watch another dumbed-down Die Hard. But let's not go into that because my country's rating system is bizarre, sometimes unfair and complex.

It's an arbitrary rating that 95% of parents will ignore and bring their kids to anyways. Just like the ESRB is with video games. I don't know anyone who pays attention to it outside the film industry.

Of course apparently 28 Days Later kept it's R rating, just from a quick look at my movie collection. Probably for the male nudity.
You're not allowed to see a penis until you're 18! Until then, bums and boobs only.

I think having an R rating for language is beyond silly though. At exactly what quantity do f-bombs become more adult than Kate Winslet's perky breasts.

Well damn, pretty sure I saw one as a baby. Unless my own doesn't count...

Apparently seeing a penis or boobies IRL every day in the shower just isn't as damaging as seeing them in 2-D for a few seconds. Hopefully 3-D technology will remedy this.
