(This is my first thread on my new account, my old one was KingTeabag, if anyone remembers)

The R3PLAY retro-gaming convention is coming to Blackpool this November, and it looks so sweet. Over 600 videogames will be there on consoles ranging from the 70s up until present day, including the PC and coin-ops!

There will be gaming competitions running all day, ranging from Doom to Street Fighter. I can't wait!

I am looking forward to it loads, how about you Escapists?

No but I now want to.
The 80s and 90s was an era of gaming I largely missed out on and Virtual Console only goes so far towards filling that void.

It's only twelve quid for a day ticket... However, if you don't live in England it might be a bit of a ***** to get there.

I do live in England, however as I recall Blackpool is quite some distance away. And it'll be a school day. And to take the train would cost quite a bit.
But this does interest me, even if I can't go.

It's a Saturday & Sunday (6 & 7 November), and wouldn't take too long to get there on a train from most places in England. An hour or two.

Are you their Head of PR? I'm thinking that this year I'm just not going to have enough money to pay for a return ticket on the train (especially as at that point I have to buy Christmas presents).
However in future years if it's still continuing I'll look into it.

Eww, Blackpool.
This was my initial response.

But... coin-ops...

Ehh, it's still too far away. Still wish they hadn't cancelled Eurogamer Leeds.

Also, am I right in thinking that there is Arthur running about in his undies in the image in the OP? If so, that is awesome.

Also, Jet Set Willy.

Also, Lemmings.

S'awesome.

Bit far for me. Nice to see an expo in the north of England though. It's even further for me to get to London, which is where all the good expo's seem to be held.

You would be correct.

Looks interesting, although the name has a number in the middle of it instead of a letter, a crime which should be punishable by death in my book. I'm terrible at retro games generally, but thanks for bringing it to my attention. Even if it will ultimately lead to me embarrasing myself on Donkey Kong.

I've never heard of it until now, but I might go since I live in Blackpool.

Hmmn, tempted, I'll be in Edinburgh then so it's not terribly far I guess. Depends if I get a job over the semester...
