[HEADING=1]Read the Link[/HEADING]

In the related article, you get this.
http://www.chinasmack.com/2010/stories/rabbit-crushing-video-girl-comes-forth-apologizes-explains.html

Hey OP, how about informing your audience properly?

I'm not condoning her awful actions, but you're only providing one side of it.
Whoever scrolled down, would've seen the related article.

Call me skeptical, but somehow, I think that her apology is a load of feces.
You tell everyone about the first part of it, the bad part, but you never mention the other half, and you knew about it as well.

This just makes it worse for you, I don't agree with her, and her apology seems a bit sketchy, even then you still should include it. No one's gonna read about the second part if you don't mention it, and you made it really clear that you don't want people to click the link, limiting the amount of people that'll see the related article. Saying that "It's in the related" isn't really good enough. If you want to make a discussion around the topic, then provide as much information in the op as you can.
I will update the first post then, nonetheless, you are correct.

However, the reason why I put 5 spoiler tags on the link, is to avoid Mod wrath.
I don't want to be banned, just because someone visited the link, got angry and reported me for posting offensive content.

Mods don't give a crap about spoiler tags. I was suspended for a week when I posted a result to my old forums 3 word story game, it had about 20 spoiler tags. Didn't matter, despite warnings.

The same would apply for here.

I find this beyond vile and beyond sick, I find this to be the work of someone who is utterly demented.
More like the work of someone who needs money. There's little to no point focusing on the girl herself, because this isn't an isolated incident. She's part of a big industry that makes videos like this for export to crush-fetishists. She probably doesn't particularly enjoy it any more than most people watching this enjoy watching it, but she's being paid a lot of money for it, when you compare it to what the average person in China earns as a living wage. Even if we accept her figures and not the original figures, 400 yuan (about the equivalent of $80) is a lot for 4 minutes work. Good luck getting a tine/pay ratio approaching that doing anything else in China that doesn't involve taking your clothes off. Sure she's smiling and enjoying herself in the video - because that's what she's being paid to do.

While I don't really like the cruelty aspect of it, and I'd never pay for such a video, I don't think it's any more cruel than what battery hens go through, or several of the practices in the meat production industry, or my kittens toying with mice for fun before killing them and then leaving the carcasses there to rot while they eat kitten food.

Also, your disclaimers and spoiler-tags won't prevent moderator action. Something is either okay on these forums or it's not, it doesn't matter how many disclaimers you put in front of it. I have no idea what the mods' stance on this kind of content is, but if you were that revolted you could have always not posted it, or just discussed the issue without providing a link to the content. You OP seems designed to get as many people grossed out as possible, while simultaneously maintaining the moral high-ground, and I find that a little disingenuous.

So, it's okay to do horrible things, as long as you earn more money, than work hard and get paid less?
One of the articles says that she comes from a "wealthy" family. In all honesty, I'd rather borrow money from my parents, than do this kind of stuff.
Also, if she managed to "fake" the smiles and enjoyment, wouldn't that qualify her to be able to fake her apology, as well?

The meat production industry is different:

- they don't earn money by making videos of animal torture
- the meat is actually consumed, or produced with a reason to become eaten, whereas those rabbits are most likely just being squashed to death and probably thrown in a dumpster afterwards

If possible, I like to specify sources. If I wouldn't specify sources, I might as well just add or retract some things to the story, and you would never know.

I did not "design" the OP for such a purpose. I put up the warnings, so that people who don't want to see these things, can simply not view them.
If I made a strip club next to a McDonald's, yet put up signs "18+ only!", and a few 13 year old boys walked into it, would that be my fault?

I'm generally a fan of killing rabbits, but not this way...

(I'm a hunter, they're pests in Australia, I shoot them)

I never said anywhere that I thought it was "okay". I also wouldn't be surprised that her apology is not that sincere, and there's a good chance that she didn't even write it herself, her employer has probably got stuff like that on standby for whenever they need it. I never said anything about those things.

My point is that everyone seems to be out to crucify the girl, and to me, that's incredibly stupid and won't help anyone. Even if she gets named and shamed out of the industry, there's thousands of other girls who would happily take her place in an instant. Not because they love killing bunnies, but because money talks, especially in a poor country, whether you have rich parents or not. Calling her "demented" misses the point - it's economic factors that drive situations like this, not moral factors.

When bringing the meat industry into it I was discussing it in relation to cruelty levels, not what happens to the meat. I won't go into it in depth though because the cruel practices of the meat industry are well-documented, but I don't think that the usage of the meat is relevant to the issue. If there was no video camera present, and someone ate the bunny after the girl crushed it, that wouldn't make me feel any better or worse about the bunny crushing.

it's a rabbit. sure, it's a sick fetish, and being crushed by asian bimbo probably isn't the best way to go, but I can only get truly upset about killing of real endangered species, or human beings.. I have contemplated worse ends for rabbits for laughs with my friends (although no actual rabbit was harmed by us).

I'll agree it's pretty messed up though.

A little explanation because I seem to be on the "crush fetish" industry's side: Basically, I have no qualms about killing insects, and I think it would be hypocritical of me to have qualms over killing higher animals "just because they're cuter". Endangered species I can muster rage about, and human beings of course.. And horrible torturous abuse shouldn't happen.. but if I'm going to cry for one rabbit, then I'd need to cry for every spider I ever killed, and I'm not going to do that.

Sort of like a buddhist's "sanctity of life" mindset flipped on its ass.
