Racing Games

I want to know what you escapists opinions are on racing games.
I loved the mario kart series (double dash being my favourite), as well as that I have played and enjoyed need for speed: underground and forza motorsport 2. And while these are both really good games, the 'realism' within them gets a bit boring after a while.
But recently I bought split/second: velocity and think it is possibly one of the best racing games ever, it's semi-realistic but not enough to bore me, and the fact that you blow shit up to take people out and change the race is amazing. So at the minute this is one of my favourite games.

So I want you to tell me which racing games you like and why

I like party racing games, (Mario Kart, Modnation Racers, etc), and I like some offroad racing games, most notably the Motorstorm series, but I've never really gotten into street racers. They aren't that much fun for me, so I tend to avoid them.

Yea, well I've barely gotten them but after playing this one whilst in hmv i thought it was pretty good, when i started playing it at home i was hooked and now love it

I have a bit of a thing for the Burnout series. They're just good fun. Not too challenging, brilliant multiplayer, big crashes.

On the realism side of things, I find track racers like Forza to be too picky about the way I drive. I absolutely adore Dirt 2 though. It's beautiful, fast and pretty easy to get into.

i loved mario kart: double dash, need for speed most wanted and gran turismo 2 in the good ol days.

now i play Pure occasionaly. quads for the win!

Modnation and Motorstorm are good for the PS3, although I haven't played them much because my brother owns the PS3. On Xbox, I enjoy either Grid or Dirt 2 the most, just for the feeling they give when you're driving, especially in the cockpit view. The car handling is perfect for me, not too arcadey and not too realistic. Driving the Ford Mustang on Grid is just fucking awesome.
