Plants thriving in radioactive soil?
That sounds more awesome than it probably is!
Oh well, this is probably the only time when I can use this quote without it sounding completely out of context.

"Home? I have no home. Hunted. Despised. Living like an animal. The jungle is my home! I shall show the world that I can be its master! I will perfect my own race of people! A race of atomic supermen, which will conquer the world!"

Off topic but your avatar is awesome and familiar.
Is that from Shakugan No Shana?

Now to the topic. OMIGOD LIFE PERSEVERING(or however you spell it)! Honestly I am not surprised, life is very tenacious. No matter what you do it always springs back somewhere.

This is why I quirked an eyebrow at Fallout 3 every time it didn't have at least random grasses growing.
The timeline itself in fallout 3 left me with a great many questions like "How did this Salisbury Steak survive for 200 years, much less in an edible state" and "The United States went from backwoods sustenance farming to world power in 200 years, so why are all these people still living in shacks?"

If I eat one of those plants, what superpower do I get?

Edit: Everybody, stop telling me that I would die. ._.
Don't listen to those killjoys... depending on the plant, my money is on flight.

Why is it that radiation's effects in real life aren't nearly as awesome as radiation's effects in the comics?

I need superpowers. I live in Nevada so there's no shortage of rads to be found around here---really, I'd be healthier if the Fallout 'verse rules applied.

The article is misleading. The power plant did not "Exlplode" it had a meltdown. If the Uranium had gone critical the situation would have been FAR worse.
Oh really, then you should know that one of the generators malfunctioned and caused an explosion to happen.
I somehow doubt there was a mushroom cloud and death and destruction for miles around. Just radioactive particles.

Yeah... not much damage, all things considered.

Yeah, I did overstate it a-lot.
