A long time ago I was in the hospital to get some harsh chemo and a bone marrow transplant to recover from it (was in the hospital for like a month). I was playing The World Ends With You to pass the time and I liked it generally but this one song, this one fucking song grated at my nerves tirelessly , De ja vu. In my easy annoyed state I gave up on the game, amazing considering I was stuck in the hospital with nothing to do. I didn't end up playing it through to the end until this year (maybe late last year).

Do any of you have games you've quit because of the music? Either a single song or the whole sound track.

No, you are the first person in my entire life who has ever stated this that I know of.

I know the MGS2 game over music stopped me from retrying a few times... To be fair it didn't take much to push me over the edge because that game was beyond boring.

Oh and I really couldn't stand prolonged "what the fuck do I present now?" parts in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney when this music had to show up

It's not the worst music but my god it gets so much worse over time...

Again with the one sentence shutdowns from Mr KilljoyJack. He makes my day/night sometimes I swear XD

Nope, although I have deemed it necessary before to put my own music on after I'd heard "Jingle Jangle Jingle" too many times in short succession on Fallout: New Vegas.

It may be one of your favourite songs, Mr. New Vegas, but goddamnit it isn't one of mine! *twitches*

You're just jealous of Kay Kyser's awesome spurs aren't you?

The song that really got on my nerves was johnny guitar. Good song, but it was played WAY too often.

Goddamnit, I am, every time I hear that opening "YIPPIE YAY!" my envy of his magnificent spurs boils over into an incandescent rage!

And sometimes I can agree with you about Johnny Guitar. There's only so many times I can hear "Thereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee was never a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan like my Johnny..."

Although no matter how many times it comes on I always sing along with "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" even if I do get annoyed when Mr New Vegas goes "Sure it Deano, *stupid laugh* It sure is".

Damn, Mr. New Vegas has nothing on Three Dog.

I remember the music from fallout 3 used to drive me insane due to over play. I think it was the one about easy life in the jungle or something. I wish the expansion packs included a few songs especially since I imagine some of them are royalty free or have such minimal fees. Also 'This is THREEEEEEEE DOOOOOOG!' got annoying.

The looping music in Commandos for the nes is by far the worst. I went into a retro game store that had it blasting from the TV. I expected to stay longer than 5 minutes, but the music from that game was pure torture, all 10 looping seconds of it.

No never happens to me or anyone I know of.
If the music REALLY annoys me I just kinda mute it, did you try that option?

I now have shivers rolling down my arms and legs... my heartbeat is double its normal... and I'm supposed to go to bed.

Augh.

Seriously, this music made me stop playing a Sonic game as a kid when I got to the water levels.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. The music on the first level was just a "rock n' roll" bastardization of the theme music from AC:6. Everything about that game just irks me.

I fucking hated this song with a passion on Little Big Planet, I despised it, every time it came on I'd want to hit something.

Well, this is weird. Someone's keeping a track record of me, but it's not a fan. What's your beef, anti-fan?

If i hate the music too much nowadays I just whack the volume off. But my worst offender was the blitzball music from Final Fantasy X. Playing 10 hours of it to get wakka's ultimate weapon's sigil was enough to drive me half mad.

But how could you get annoyed at *weep weep weeble weep wheedle* sounds when they're being poured constantly into your ears during an overlong cutscene?

Seriously though, Okami is an incredible game, but oh god the voices.

OT: I don't think I've every quit a game because of the soundtrack, but there's definitely been times when I've had to switch off the sound and use my own music. Best examples are always the Grand Theft Auto games. I mean, I love the radio stations (Welcome to V-Rock, you're on the aaaaaiirr) but after you've heard the first verse of Working for the Weekend [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E82ozXyNjk] about thirty times in a single playthrough it starts to grate somewhat.

Doidiidodidiodiodumdidodnodidmodido! >:D

I've never stopped playing a game because of the music, but I remember only playing through the Cat in the Hat game BECAUSE of the jazzy background tunes.

Can't say I've ever done that, in fact i must admit I've never heard anyone quit a game over music before o_O

if there ever was a case where the music didn't appeal to me i'd usually turn it off and replace it with Itunes/Ipod music.

If I didn't enjoy the concept so much, SWAT 4 might be it. MAYBE. The in-game soundtracks are boring and are only helpful as "OH SHIT" indicators when my retarded teammates are too far away from me to hear the gunfights they get into and unfailingly get mowed down by suspects. A sort of Musical Spoiler.
