Some games drag on too long after one side is clearly going to win with the other having no chance of a comeback, that's when I quit.
If its a fighting game, just take the loss and leave after.
Absolutely. That was the context I was originally mentioning, as this happens ALL THE TIME in fighting games.
Read my post. Watch the vids. Go to that site. You'll LOVE the ragemail section.

Because people care too much. My friend was once playing a game of FIFA online and the game glitched where it wouldn't reconnect properly, the guy he was playing sent him a message saying he'd just leave the game running so as to avoid the quitting statistic. I tried to persuade my friend to reset his console so we could play something else but he refused and let it stay on for a full 4 hours before he turned it off. All to avoid one tiny little stat. That's the opposite of rage-quitting and it's just as sad.

That said, if my arse is getting handed to me then I'm not really going to enjoy the game and it'll just put me in a bad mood, therefore I will probably quit. Why do you care? In FIFA at least I know it counts as a victory for you if your opponent quits (and I would expect it would do the same in other games), so that doesn't really matter. Surely you'd rather be playing half decent opponent rather than just keep easily creaming one person? I mean rage-quitting right at the last minute when you've been going toe to toe for ages, that's sad, but quitting because you're getting stupidly beaten, maybe because of a bad connection or bad matchmaking, seems reasonable to me.

Yeah in a fighting game there's always the slim chance you'll go insane and combo your enemy to death with your last sliver of health so you're never in a completely unwinnable situation. I mean in team pvp games where you're outnumbered and their team is more skilled than your team but aren't interested in finishing the game as much as racking up kills.
I've had a bunch of comebacks at low health.
The first match is the one you wanna see. Comebacks can happen no matter what. Just try and do give up.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was saying, I was talking about big teams of people where your actions don't have as much effect on the overall flow of the game like in any MMOFPS or RPG. With those after a certain point if you're on the losing team you're on the losing team and a lot of the time the winning team likes to farm kills rather than end the game so that's when I'd rage quit.

The most fun you can have in fighting games are those moments where you're on your last little bit of health and trying desperately to avoid being hit and still do damage in my opinion.

Oh my god. I was in a lobby a while back in MW2, going for 5 straight nukes, and the match before I got my 4th. Next game I am annihilating left and right, on a 22 killstreak, and the game starts to lag badly. Eventually the lobby is closed because the host dashboarded.

Well...that sucks. We need lobbies.

I ragequit because it's probably best if I don't rip my monitor out and throw it across the room while frothing foam from my mouth.

Well, I've been playing LoL alot, and imo if you're gonna play a multiplayer game. See it through. Many times even bad starts can be reclaimed in the end. If you can't stand loosing, stay off multiplayer games or just play with your own team. (that way maby your damn friends [if you have any] can knock some sense into you)

I don't rage quit. ..I calmly leave before the score gets too stacked against me, or if there's just no point. If I have no chance of winning, may as well just give you the victory >.>
Exactly. If I stop having fun in the middle of a match, why shouldn't I be able to quit?

Ha ha ha ha ha I don't rage quit, I simply leave angrily because YOU WINNING IS OBVIOUSLY SOME KIND OF HACK AND I *Long list of swear words*

Also I believe that, and I'm not pointing anyone out, a good majority of those who -do- rage quit, came in to that game to prove they were good at something, maybe low self esteem as some say, and by losing, they refuse to admit that it's their own fault, and rage and rage and rage and leave and find a place they can win, then taunt others.

I could say the same thing right back to you. It's just a game. Stop getting worked up over it, stop taking it so seriously, and don't be surprised when people just playing for fun leave because they're not having fun anymore.
Like someone else said, take the loss, then leave. No point giving someone the finger just to save 30 seconds of your life. It's a matter of respect.

I must have mistyped something, because you clearly didn't understand what I meant.

Games are meant to be a fun way to waste an evening. They are, after all, a hobby, and this is the goal of all hobbies. Now, some players decide to try to have a little fun with a multiplayer game. The fun runs out soon enough, though, when they encounter players they can't defeat. So they quit and find another game to play. It has nothing to do with any sort of disrespect. They're simply no longer having fun, yet wish to have fun, so they're finding something else to do.

Or, in short, why the fuck should other players continue to play something that's not fun because YOU want another number on your stats page?
Well, clearly we have a failure to communicate here, because now you don't seem to understand what I said.

If you're not having fun anymore, then you wait for the round to end, then leave. It's a fighting game, not chess. It takes 30 seconds to lose, less, if you've given up. I don't just press "quit game" if I'm losing because it's no fun, thus shafting my opponent. Wait, then leave. It's just nicer that way.

I'm by no means saying "keep playing so I can tally up wins, LOL", what I AM saying is, if you're leaving, then do so at a time when it doesn't spell "fuck you" to your opponent.

This is all academic, though, because the rage quitters I find tend to, let's say, "stop having fun" when the round goes un-winnable for them.

It's great when they start sending you insulting messages.

I like to reply with "I FEAST UPON YOUR IMPOTENT RAGE WITH GLEE!" Bonus points if it's a voice mail done in mousevoice.

I HATE this on Pokemon black and White. About to win the rated match when the person disconnects. And what happens?
IT IS NOT COUNTED AS A WIN FOR ME. Like fucking hell you needy score whore.
Ugh that just pisses me off.
