RTS games. Whenever all the AI sit around for god-knows how long, then just randomly decide to launch an assault all at the same time; this leaves me fighting off an army roughly 7x the size of my own, and you don't have to be some sort of genius to realise that this is a very bad thing once even mid-tech units are available.

What's worse though is when they all take it in turns. The never-ending stream of enemies draining/interrupting my resources, hindering my research and slowly closing in on my most important structures makes me rage hard. It can eventually get to the point where I'm fending off big tanks with light vehicles, which is where I just draw the line and restart before I break something.

The last game I really remember raging about was Witcher 2.

The stingy checkpoint placement, temperamental save system and glitchy controls were not doing my blood pressure any favours.

Mega Man 9.

I got up to the third Wily stage, flying by the seat of my pants cursing nonstop every time I came close to getting killed, and then I finally made a mistake. I lost my last life, but thinking that I could just start from that stage again I refreshed my resources and clicked the little Wily icon on the stage select. And then... it takes me back to the very first Wily stage.

I didn't scream, or throw my Wiimote, or punch my television. I just quietly--and slowly--stood up, walked over to the TV and shut it off. I then went outside for a walk. A very, very long walk.

That was in 2008... I haven't played the game since.

Exit the truck to find five SWAT Team members that I have to incapacitate (the last one holding a friggin' M60 that will drop you with a single full burst) to be able to climb a pipe at the other end of the room. Oh, and you have roughly 30-45sec to get through and to cover because of an immediate call or backup. If you don't get out, you have another squad or at least six more coming in from behind.

Attempted the room a good dozen times, now... Sometimes I can clear through, an get caught up trying to get onto/over the vents, other times I end up mobbed by too many Blues and they surround and beat me down, and sometimes I just get beat to snot or perforated by that bloody schmuck with the M60 (Sonuva... SO CLOSE!).

The games still sitting in its Blockbuster sleeve after a week-long cooldown. Maybe I'll take another shot at it, after I watch the newest Fringe and the Walking Dead season premier.

Sometimes I just have to scream 'NO. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN!', or, 'AAHHH! BULLSHIT!' And then quit. Actually, it's over TF2 mostly. The spies are everywhere, and yet I can never find one until there's a Big Earner lodged in my spine.

Occasionally, it might be over some RTS game. But of the few ones I play, I'm usually okay at so it doesn't really happen often. Only when my carefully constructed empire, prosperous trade routes, and epic fleet of doom all come crashing down over my shoulders because it's the computer A.I, and that means it keeps up with everything, considers all options, multitasks efficiently and controls multiple armies to make simultaneous attacks in just the right places so that my forces can't catch up...

'BULLSHIT!'

"(Game name). That's all." Eh

Last game I raged over was Gears 3, as well. This was actually yesterday. I'm really glad they tweaked that damn sawed off, by the way.

Some friends and I were going for a complete Horde session on Hardcore without failing a single wave. All fifty waves in one sitting. We died to four Berserkers (Yes, FOUR) on wave fifty. Those things have way too much health. Gaaahhh, I'm still salty about it.

My friend Kerri yelled "God dammit" so loud she woke up her son, ha ha. And my friend Jason just said "f*ck" in a monotone voice for like two minutes straight. One of my other friends was just bitterly cracking up for awhile (he may have lost his sanity in that moment). And my other one was pretty calm about it, just muttering "Seriously? Four?" a few times then shrugging it off.

I myself gritted my teeth and punched my pillow, followed by a very loud, angry, dramatic sigh. More like a groan. Scared my dog, at any rate, ha ha. We retried wave fifty a few times just to beat it. After a few tries we won. Then Kerri said "Now on insane!" And we all gave her a resounding "F*ck you!"

Now we're about to try it on Insane, like a much of masochists... Wish me luck! :)

i have raged many times whilst playing Football Manager, but the biggest rage i remember having was during my 2010 save.

let me set the scene, the team i was managing, Derby County, were 7th going into the last game of the season. if i won the last game, i would finish in the top 6, and therfore qualify for the playoffs for promotion to the top league. the team i was playing against, Sheffield Utd, were 20th and had lost their last 4 games.

my team scored three times to give me a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half, and it stayed that way until the 70th minute, then it all went to shit. 70th minute, they made it 3-1, 79th minute, they made it 3-2, 88th minute, they made it 3-3. at that point i shouted "bullshit", closed the game and didn't play it for about a week.

I remember that. I remember it being hard, but not that hard.

Don't bother fighting, just run to the left, using the box things as cover, jump up on the truck and climb. You'll take a few hits on the pipe but so long as you're fast and smart on the way there you will have enough health to make it up.

If the M60 guy is really bothering you, just take him out quick (either with a disarm or slide kick, follow-up kick, one-two punch) then take cover by the truck and climb the pipe as soon as your health is back. You might need to take out the assault rifle guy nearby as well. Lure him into the cars then just beat him up any way you like.

I haven't raged about a game since being about 7 and losing horribly in NBA Jam to my uncle, who ridiculed and mocked me as we played. When something in a game completely destroys me, I laugh it off because it's funny. If I get tea-bagged in Halo, I start laughing. Dying isn't a big deal to me because I can always start over/play again. But when I die over and over, I just call it a day and play another time.

I'm extremely calm about this.

I think League of Legends has aged me a lot more than any cigarettes, drugs or bad lifestyle ever will. That game man...

Ever try playing a match in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 with only bots? I swear the game has the shooter equivalent of the "rubber band" artificial difficulty in racing games. It seems the better you do, the more incompetent the bots on your team become. This is particularly true when fighting the CIS. The Republic AI simply does not know how to handle Droidekas. If those things manage to deploy, they always end up killing at least five clones before they're destroyed.

Enabling friendly fire is another good way to induce hair-pulling frustration. I remember a particularly aggravating incident on the Utapau map when playing as the Republic. My oh-so-clever bot teammates decided to take out a CIS tank by tossing grenades while charging en masse. The resulting explosions wiped out about a dozen clones, while the tank emerged with ample health to spare. The carnage enabled the CIS to take the upper hand and win, despite my best efforts to stop them. It's actually pretty funny in hindsight, but I wasn't laughing at the time.

Super Meat Boy. That is all.
Dear God this.

As much as I love the game, it gets infuriatingly hard later on. A most notable example would be the Dark World version of the final level. I remember being so close to the end only to mistime a jump and get killed by a saw. I shouted "DAMN" at the top of my lungs I was so pissed. Thankfully though, I got to the end on my next try and felt a massive sense of relief. I especially felt good when I saw what happened in the extended version of the ending.

When Bandage Girl just flicks Dr. Fetus off of her head, stares at him, and then screams at him and stomps all over him with an evil smile on her face. Kind of the same feeling I got for finally beating that game on the Dark World.

As for Demon's Souls. While that game was hard, at least you had the option to have people come and help you. Which really helped me out when fighting some of the tougher bosses in the game. I can't really say anything about Dark Souls as I haven't played that game yet.

I have rage fits while gaming, and what concerns me is that I have them in pretty much every game. I think I've become more prone to anger and impatience over the years of playing. Three broken headsets and a busted controller are a testament to that.

The one game, however, that got me more upset than any game before or since my playing of it was MW2. Good God, did that game piss me off.
