It is part of their divine contract on creation. The ultimate price of creating Nirn. Remember TES lore; Lorkan, an Aedra and the one most credited for creation died if I remember correctly.
See those dual moons?

Yea tell me Lorkhan is dead.
Yes he is dead. Half-dead or whatever it is, he is still technically dead as from what I have read from in-game books. The other aedra "tore him apart", and I consider those 2 moons as his body; the remains of his corpse. But well unlike a dead mortal, a dead aedra still maintains a very high profile and still affects Mundus as a whole. They become "laws of nature" as I have read. Anyway, this is just my understanding.

I still stay true to my understanding that aedra are 'killable'.
Well you're wrong.

You can kill an Aedra just as you can kill Daedra, if you can call it that.

First , daedra and aedra are the same beings a.k.a planets - aedra helped in the creation ,daedra didn't. Lorhkans and Magnus physical bodies , their planes ( planets) where destroyed in the creation of the physical world , but that could happen to every single one of them.
I don't know about Magus , but the divine part of Lorhkan we know exists in Sovngarde and is known to the nords as Shor.

(Lorkhan is almost literally Mundus, when his heart was destroyed, you were literally destroying the planet's heart. Think of it as a collaborative plane of Oblivion)
Actually , Mundus is the plane of existence , Nirn is the planet ... so it's kinda even worst than what you said.
Oop got them mixed up. Mundus is the shared plane, at least as I envision it.

Again , you speak as though daedra and aedra are different species. They are not. They are exactly the same. Sithis on the other hand is neither a daedra or aedra , I have no idea what he is.

Sithis is the Void. The emptiness and elemental chaos that existed before the big bang. Sithis is the concept of zero. Think of Sithis more as a force of nature than an intelligent entity. Like entropy.

I think it's obvious who would win. Hermeus Mora.
Knowledge is power and he/she knows everything. Past present and future.
He/she would know every little secret, every weakness and all the plans of the other Daedra.

And on top of that he/she is the only one who knows how to truly kill a Daedra prince. So really all the others wouldn't stand a chance.

Which bring me to my next point.
OP you wrong in saying that Daedra are immortal. It's just no one knows how to kill them....no one except Hermaus Mora that is.

In fact i remember reading a book which stated that couple of Daedric princes consider Hermaus Mora their biggest enemy, cause he holds such a knowledge.

Hmmm a very feasible point you have there. I totally overlooked that tentacle-porn prince.

If I can't side with one of the Divines then Azura or Nocturnal.
Both are worthy of support.

As for who would win, Jygglag, that's why he was cursed in the first place, even with all the Daedric Princes against him all they could do was halt the Greymarch.
He's weak as hell now though, it's going to take some time for him to build power.

Oh yea, time for us, for Daedra a century is a day.

I would support Hircine, but I think he would lose; though I have no other Daedric god that I like better.

i only wish that they actually showed Hircine in Skyrim as well as had a quest that could at least match Solstheim's. I loved that Hircine quest, and I would have loved to get the spear, even if I wouldn't be able to use it.

Or vice versa. Time moves in ways of its own past the veil to Oblivion...

You say this like it's a hypothetical situation. When your Skyrim character dies there is going to be a rather awkward moment when the daedric princes realise that their champion is exactly the same person.

I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen then, but it won't be anything good.

as for the question I'm gonna have to go with Sheogorath there's just something about him that I like.

Has anyone found Jyggalag's quest yet? That is, supposing there is one. I've looked all over the place.

Also, regarding the Aedra and mortality. The Aedra are mortal, but not in the way mortals are mortal. There is a certain amount of "deity necromancy" going on in the Elder Scrolls as mortal beliefs resurrect and direct the actions of the dead gods who no longer think for themselves. Just think of Mara as actual love. Love can't think for itself, and think of all the good (and evil) that has been done in love's name.

This is probably because they were once immortal, like their brethren, the Daedra. (In fact, remember when Paarthunax mentioned the next kalpa, aka "the next world"? Well, recent lore strongly suggests that the Daedra we know now become the Aedra of the next world. Pretty cool eh?

I would support Talos and Akatosh if the Aedra were involved but if it was just Deadra, I'd go with Molag Bal and or Sanguine.

Youknow, I think I would side with the smallest and weakest daedric lord with the fewest followers. Im a suckup for the underdog. Also, his depicted as a dragon. So theres that, I will make him -my- champion. I mean im a vampiric immortal with unlimitted magicka and masterlevel destructionspells. Im immortal, age and otherwise. And I deal a lot of damage, and have neverending stamina to back it up. I think I could defeat the lowest daedric lord : P. And then I'd totally make that dragon my main method of transportation.
so, Peryite?
he's only a dragon to troll Akatosh.

OT: me, imma hang out with ALDUIN!
what, he's a god...

out of the Daedra, Sheogorath and Sanguine. Molag Bal and Boethia(h) smashing each others heads in, us three getting pissed and juggling rabbits until they turn back into people.
